Name the Geek Contest

Name the Geek!Greetings Geeks! By now you’ve noticed our awesome new look and today we present our official Geek Crafts logo! (If you’re reading this in a blog reader, click through, just this once.)

Also today we launch our contest: Name the Geek! This geek needs a name and we’re leaving it up to you, our lovely readers, to decide.

Here’s how it will work:

  • Starting today and up until midnight ET on Sunday, May 29th, leave a comment with your name suggestion. (If more than one person suggests the same name, the first person to suggest it will be entered, so be sure to read through the comments first and come up with something different.)
  • On Monday, May 30th, we’ll post a list of all the names for you to vote on. You can vote until Sunday, June 5th.
  • On Monday, June 6th, we’ll announce the winning name. And to thank the reader who suggested the winning name, we have an epic prize package!

[Edit: Midnight Eastern time – I’ve got to go to bed at some point, kids :) ]

  1. I think her name should be Lucca. (from Chrono Trigger)

Reasoning: Make her a brunette and you’ve made a drawing of me (right down to the very square, thick frame glasses). My husband’s pet name for me is Lucca, especially when I’m crafting. (I get focused, tune everything out, and I’m good with my hands, he says.)

  2. GEEKarella

    Gretchen

    Crafty Sue

Whether you’ll take one of my suggestions for names or not, I think it’s great that your site gets a mascot and everything you and we love “incarnates” as this lovely geek ^.^
(I hope you survived my awful English)
    Best wishes from Germany!

  3. Although I’m not a fan of the new logo at all, the prizes are cool (priorities, right?) How about Grace K. Fets (or Grace F. Teks)? (anagram of GEEK CRAFTS)

  4. Galatea Canton.

First name: In greek mythology, Galatea was a statue of a woman who was brought to life by Aphrodite and as such is technically a craft in and of herself. Not to mention Galatea also being the name of characters from Claymore and Justice League.
Last name: hero of. No further explanation necessary.
    Possible nicknames: Gal, Gala, Gee.
    Initials: G(eek)C(rafts)

  5. Ginny Weasley! (or just Ginny or Weasley for short)
    Velma
    Agnes
    Edith
    Winifred
    Trixie
    Lucille
    Annie
    Ariel
    Fiona

  6. Diana (because every woman is a wonder woman). My personal favourite!

    Or:
Elisabeth (in memory of Elisabeth Sladen, sci-fi actress extraordinaire)

    Elphaba (from Wicked)

Penny (kind hearted and sweet from Dr Horrible’s Sing Along Blog)

    Or, the obvious. Lei

  7. How about Winnifred? or Winnie for short!! Such a cute and geeky name!!

Bernadette, she kinda reminds me of a red head version of Howards girlfriend (Big Bang)

Or Charlie (I always love girls with guys names i think it’s super cute! And hits a bit on the geeky side!!)

  8. My vote is Haley, after my favorite geek crafter and blogger Haley over at the Zen of Making. Added bonus that she shares her name with a comet.

  9. I love my mum’s name, Ilona, which was so geeky and odd in the 50’s that she decided to change it to Terri which is an odd choice but who knows what was going on in her head! As for Ilona I love it if I ever have a daughter Ilona it will be and I think for this paticular geek who looks alarmingly like the original Ilona the name will be,
    Ilona Maud The geek x

  10. Her name is Gertrude. Queen Gert! It’s a great underappreciated name, like geeks are fine underappreciated people.

  11. How about Buttons!!

    She’s cute and round :)
Plus buttons themselves are wonderfully useful for crafts. They are our “go to” for creating eyes, closures, and flower designs.

  12. How about Sheldon and you can call her Shellie for a short name. Also what about Hermit or Hermindett, because aren’t we all a part of Hermits United? ( people who understand the second name have won my friendship in whole )
