So when I saw this fun tutorial and pattern by Rachel on the blog Adventures in Making, I knew I needed to share it.  The tutorial has a downloadable template and step-by-step instructions, complete with plenty of pictures, so you can make your own lovely sugar skull sachet. Felted Calvin & Hobbes

Yoopidou from Hawaii doesn’t need Bill Watterson to come out with any licensed Calvin and Hoobes toys…she can make her own and have them turn out perfect!

Yoopidou needle felted Hobbes and Calvin over a wire frame so they be poseable.

Make sure you take a look at her Craftster posting. She has a bunch of photos that she recreated from iconic Calvin and Hobbes strips. On May 21, 2014, her posting was voted as a featured project as well.

Tutorial: Needle Felted Solar System Mobile

Needle Felted Solar System

I’ve never actually tried needle felting myself, but this is such a wonderful use of the craft that I am definitely going to give it a go sometime. Check out this Needle Felted Solar System Mobile over on It’s a Knit House.

There’s a set of instructions for making your own Needle Felted Solar System Mobile. Although obviously, it’s not quite to scale. If you made a 2 inch diammeter version of the Earth in a scale model, the Sun would have to be 18 feet across, and you’d need 22 miles to fit the whole thing in, including orbits (or 29 miles if you want to include Pluto).

But for illustrative purposes this is an awesome geeky science craft! I want one.

Super-owl, Spider-owl, Green Lant-owl, this could be a lot of fun.
