An Easter Gift For Monk: Egg Cuber

I know this isn’t exactly a “craft” but this Egg Cuber from The Kitchen Store is just way too cool not to tell you about. Seriously, aside from the word “MONK!!” popping into my head as soon as I saw it, I also had visions of food-colored cubed eggs becoming Tetris pieces on a large platter for the Easter brunch I am planning, or a big cubed-egg Rubik’s Cube. Honestly, OCD or not, this is the most awesome invention you could own for $2.99 plus shipping.

I’d love to write more but I need to put my order in.

  1. I was given one of these as a gag-gift/housewarming present. I have yet to try it, but the box is very humorous.

There’s a chicken standing, looking down at her nest, with a speech bubble: “@#$*%& OUCH!”

  2. We have one of those. Maybe we haven’t been doing it just right but we rarely end up with perfect little cubes like the one in the photo. And you have to put the eggs in when they’re still hot from being boiled, so if you want to do enough to serve company then you either need to cook the eggs in tiny batches or buy multiple cubers.

  3. That’s lame if you have to put them in when they’re hot, since you get a nicely easily peeled egg if you soak them in an ice bath after boiling…

Still, I might need one anyway. I like that it looks like sushi. Very, very midwestern version of sushi…(I live here, i can say that)/

  4. I found a semi-instructional video on youtube made by some people who bought one–they do seem to be a little rounder on the edges than the picture would lead you to believe but I still think its pretty cool!
