Girly Gone Geek: Batman Princess, plus Star Wars Princess

Though we’re months away from Halloween, what’s Valentine’s Day without a little sweetness?  Behold, the Batman Princess.

Batman Princess

As spotted on Comics Alliance, this post comes from Donkey’s tumblr page. Alas, with no commentary. I would love to know the backstory behind the costume, and the neighbors’ reactions.

Donkey’s tumblr page also links to her flickr album, where I found this little beauty – not quite Princess Leia, but a Star Wars princess, nonetheless.

I love how the little girl is allowed to embrace both her geeky and girly selves. How have you helped young girls feel empowered about their love of geeky things?

  1. Adorable! I want to be a Batman Princess for Halloween now. It’d probably embarrass my teens though!

  2. I was wearing my Princess Leia t-shirt while tucking in my 5 year old niece. She wanted me to tell her about the pretty girl on my shirt, so I told her the story of Princess Leia. How a strong princess stood up for what she believed in and helped save people in need and that because of her, the universe became a safer, better place. She smiled and told me she wanted to be just like that princess when she got bigger. I told her I’d help

  3. Brandy, I say go for it! A little humility in teens is a good thing! Braeby, what a great story! And what fabulous adventures you’ll have together! ;)
