Make Your Own Gandalf Hat

gandalf-hat

Seems like the people in my house aren’t the only people enjoyingthe Lord of the Rings marathon airing on TNT this weekend. I mentioned it on Twitter and got several “@replies” that they were all doing the same. So in the spirit of the twelve straight hours of Lord of the Rings, I thought it might be fun to share a little how-to Make Your Own Gandalf Hat. Sally Pointer, hostess of the Pointy Hat Gallery, has featured this great Gandalf hat, complete with a little how to linked here. A list of supplies includes heavy weight felt, a sewing machine and patience (perhaps you could do this project while watching twelve straight hours of Frodo’s adventures?).

Bicycle Love Button

Cycling is, well, let’s face it, one of the geekiest “sports” out there. Either you’re pedaling around because you don’t have a car, or because you actually want to be a “cyclist” in which case you are wearing really tight, shiny shorts. More importantly than all that, cyclists have mega-pride. And here is the perfect button to show yours off. Spaceoddities posted this massive 3″ Bicycle Love Button on her etsy page. Perfect blend of geek, girly & cyclist pride.

Geektastic Easter Eggs

John at Superpunch featured these amazing Geeky Easter Eggs, and I thought I would share it today so anyone who is like me, and waits until the night before Easter to decorate eggs can try some of these amazing ideas!

Above is the Bender egg, the binary egg and the soon-to-be ever-so-popular Yoda egg. On Superpunch you will also find some other really amazing Easter eggs including World Of Warcraft, Kiss and Aqua Teen Hungerforce inspired eggs, as well as Domokun and some cool “egg scenes”. This is one way to totally geek-a-fy your Easter celebration and show off how artistic you are (or, as it may turn out–aren’t).

An Easter Gift For Monk: Egg Cuber

I know this isn’t exactly a “craft” but this Egg Cuber from The Kitchen Store is just way too cool not to tell you about. Seriously, aside from the word “MONK!!” popping into my head as soon as I saw it, I also had visions of food-colored cubed eggs becoming Tetris pieces on a large platter for the Easter brunch I am planning, or a big cubed-egg Rubik’s Cube. Honestly, OCD or not, this is the most awesome invention you could own for $2.99 plus shipping.

I’d love to write more but I need to put my order in.
