The DIY Maven takes you step by step through making your own zombie pin out of polymer clay. Even if you’re new to polymer clay, you’ll find this tutorial easy to follow with it’s great pictures and clear instructions.
I just spent the weekend selling my handmade goodies at TopCon, a small pop-culture convention in Topeka, KS. One of the guests, Mike Mundy, was a zombie on The Walking Dead, so there was a lot of zombies hanging around this weekend. All those undead inspired me to share this great tutorial on making your own zombie plushie on the blog Heidi Boyd. This tutorial offers more inspiration than actual techniques, but if you’re familiar with basic hand sewing skills, you’ll have no problem making your little Zombie Plushie friend to hunt down brains with. You could even mix it up a bit and use different colored fleece, felt scraps, and embroidery floss. The tutorial offers up a great, basic starting point for your imagination to take over. I’m growing tired of summer and am totally ready for the Fall to begin. So, I’ve been hunting down more and more Halloween craft ideas. When I ran across this one, I knew I had to share it with you guys. I haven’t tried this yet, but the instructions make it sound super easy, and the effect is delightful. Alice in Wonderland has always been one of my favourite books and films, and American McGee’s Alice Madness Returns is one of my favourite games. It is beautifully twisted and the artwork is gorgeous. The story takes the originally premise and continues it from a completely different point of view. Recycling gives you a good feeling that you’ve done your part in reducing the waste and somehow helped your community and the environment. But there’s a new trend going on now around this: scrap metal art. Life size statues of Autobots, Predator and even Darth Vader have appeared out of nowhere around the world, all made out of scrap metal.
A few years ago, an Optimus Prime scrap metal art statue statue popped out of nowhere in Dream Green Park in Beijing and it instantly attracted the gazes of many passers-by. The leader of the Autobots is made entirely made out of waste materials. And that’s probably the best way to show that just because something is made from junk, doesn’t mean it’s junk.
Here and here are just a few scrap metal art statues found on the internet, including Predator, Darth Vader, Iron Man and Ghost Rider! My personalfavorite is the alien statue at the beginning of this post. For some reason, I look at it and I can’t help but think H.R. Giger would approve.
