A Hoopla of Robots!

Over on Craftster, there has been a great big HOOPLA! Actually, this Hoopla has been going on for a couple of years now and has not lost momentum like so many other crafty trends. The term applies to any sort of needle work framed in an embroidery hoop regardless of size.

I have to say this particular set of Hoopla is some of my all time favorites. It combines R2D2 and C3PO, needlework and felt. How awesome is that??! Loveandasandwich stitched up these wonderfully detailed pieces bringing our favorite ‘bots to life. She even gives us a bit of insight as to her creative process towards the end of her original post.

Fantastic work loveandasandwich! The Force is with you!

R2D2 and C3P0 – NEEDLEWORK.

Come to the Dark (Chocolate) Side

Since yesterday’s post was a duplicate of an earlier one (oops!), I decided to atone for the mistake by posting something delightful (and not a repeat). Voilà the following awesomeness.

Damn, I would totally join the Dark Side if work parties involved cakes like this one! Talented baker Bernice Camlin (aka Smurfesque) has not just created a Death Star cake that both looks awesome and sounds like it tastes amazing, she has graciously posted a tutorial so even those of us who aren’t professional cake artistes can make our own. At some point in my life, this is going to happen. I will make it so! Wait, that’s the wrong sci-fi. See, I’m just that excited about this cake.

A Rad Ray Gun

Have you ever wanted to learn how to make a ray gun? No, me neither. However, now that I’ve read this tutorial and have seen the finished result, I kind of feel like I might need to make myself one. Oh, and if you want a nice way of displaying said creation? Yeah, Epbot has a tutorial for that, too.

Stained Glass TARDIS

Look what I have found for our Whovians to drool over today.

This delightful stained glass TARDIS made by Alexandria (Xandrigirly from Craftster).

She says:

“This semester, I’m in Stained Glass II, which means that after two panels and a little simple box, we got to pick more complicated/design our own 3D stained glass pieces! I was originally planning on a lantern type thing, but I changed my mind and decided this would be a box to keep my ever growing candy stash! And since I’m a dork, it had to be a TARDIS! Anyways, here it is, please excuse the crooked lines and such of a beginner!”

I’m sure you will all agree with me that it is amazing and she should be very proud of it.

Wibbly Wobbly, Dangley Earrings

Wibbly Wobbly, Dangley Earrings

Definitely dangling and definitely Rose Tyler’s earrings from the Season two episode named “Idiot Lantern”. Julie, aka oboe_wan on LiveJournal, is back and this time, she’s recreated the earrings that Rose Tyler wears in that episode. Not only does she offer the tutorial, for it, but she has created them in two different sizes, allowing the wearer to select the size that they’re more comfortable wearing.

A ‘Rose’ by any other name would love wearing these whether for cosplay or everyday. Thanks, Julie.

Fascinating… (And Logical)

In truth, I don’t need a Spock quilt. However, if I did, Fascinating… quilt would be my choice. I love how it looks pixelated and slightly abstract but still clearly conveys Spock. And, according to quilter funthreads, it’s a great way to use leftover scraps of fabric. See? That is logical. Spock would approve.
