Creating a Better Stormtrooper Helmet

00pOVlG

Steakbellie recently posted a repainting project he did, over at Imgur. His wife bought him a Star Wars shirt and it came in a small plastic (classic style) Stormtrooper helmet. (Quick note, if you’re looking for one of these for yourself, go check your local Kohl’s. I’ve seen them there, but not in my size. All they had left in the store I was at was the small sizes.)

For a simple painting/weathering job, this is amazing!

X-Files Craft: The Stitch-Along is Out There

XFiles Stitch Along by Fandom in Stitches

Who’s ready for the return of The X-Files? Less than two weeks in the countdown to six-episode series event, coming to FOX on January 24th. But you can break out your needles now and head over to Fandom In Stitches for their I Want To Believe: An X-Files Quilt & Stitch Along.

Jennifer Ofenstein of both sewhooked.com & fandominstitches.com has designed an X-Files quilt, and is releasing the patterns weekly through March via the Stitch Along event, which includes 12 free patterns, bonus patterns, plus quilt layout instructions. Participants are encouraged to use the hashtag #XFILESQuilt, and share photos of their blocks via the Fandom in Stitches flickr group for a chance to win monthly prizes.

Jennifer Vetere’s husband Robert sacrificed his old Star Wars bedsheets so she could make them something awesome to wear to The Force Awakens premiere. This is only the second dress Jennifer has ever made and it’s the first time she’s ever put a zipper into anything.

Plus, he got a really sweet Boba Fett bowling shirt out of the deal. This back panel is actually from one of the pillow cases.

As it turns out, Robert gave the sheets to Jennifer a full year before she did anything with them. She was too scared to touch them for awhile!

Make Your Own BB-8 Perler Bead Cord Keeper

It can be so easy to lose those tiny earbuds, so why not make a cute BB-8 cord keeper to keep track of them in style? I found this quick tutorial by Allison Waken on her blog All For The Boys.  It’s a simple project, and for the more adventurous, it would be easy to to adapt for other designs, just in case this isn’t the droid you were looking for.

It Began With a Pair of Shoes…

Gabrielledeschain posted these shoes she painted for her oldest daughter.

Her daughter found a pair online that she liked and sent over a picture. But alas, these $80 shoes from Colorado weren’t in Mom’s budget, since Mom’s unemployed because of her health.

But like any good mom, Gabrielledeschain wasn’t going to let that stop her. Gabrielledeschain’s mom even got involved by purchasing a pair of plain white shoes. And because Gabrielledeschain already had the paints, she got to working. Her series of photos on Imgur serve as a creative tutorial on how you could paint your own pair of Doctor Who shoes, customized for your favorite Doctor.
