I agree witch Lucy Ravenscar on this. When I saw her StarWars-Mini-Amigurumis I know immediately, that I have to learn to crochet. I looked at some basic tutorials on youtube and did some very easy patterns first (ball, bird). The aformentioned(?) Yoda and Ewok Amigurumis where my number five and six. I want to encourage everyone to try it. It is a very relaxing hobby. And you will always have a gift for women of all ages :)
The patterns by Lucy are very good explained. I could only recommend them.

Thank you for featuring my patterns, I'm so pleased you like them! I would encourage anyone to give crochet a try, I have quite a few people send me photos of Ewoks or Yodas that were their first attempts and they were great. There are lots of resources out there to learn the basics, good tips online on how to make amigurumi, and free patterns to practice on (I've got quite a few listed on my blog), so give it a go!

Hi Alyssa, thanks for your question. Actually the hat is knit, not crochet. I used this pattern: http://dryope.typepad.com/grove/2006/02/jayne_cobb_hat_.html. My minor variation is that I do one row of just knit, before doing a 1x1 rib (1 knit stitch, 1 purl stitch, repeat) for about an inch for the ribbed part. Then the rest of the hat is knit per Dryope's pattern. Hope this helps! Thanks again!

These make me wish I could crochet too. My math professor (who is Dungeon Master for the gamers on my campus) is begging me to learn how so I can make him some of these.
