Tutorial Tuesday: Ms. Pac-man Amigurumi

Today’s tutorial comes from Allison Hoffman of CraftyisCool.com.

Allison is a crocheting superhero who has designed Amigurumi likenesses of Pee Wee Herman, Wonder Woman, Conan O’Brien and Coraline, which are all available on her Ravelry Store.

Isn’t this just the cutest ball of hungry little yellow you’ve ever seen? Find the pattern here.

Crochet Cat Bus

Crochet Cat BusIt’s Totoro week on Geekcrafts!  (No, it really isn’t)  What better way to get around all week than in your very own Cat Bus!  It should be noted that the bus is crocheted and fairly small, so it would help if you are also fairly small and don’t actually feel the need to go anywhere.

Etsian AmiAmigos has plenty of Totoro crafts for the Totoro lover in your house, but who could resist this awesome Cat Bus?  I know I couldn’t.

See for yourself how totally awesome this cat bus is!

Amigurumi Fuzzy Soot Sprites

Amigurumi Fuzzy Soot SpritesThis week, as far as I am concerned, is Totoro week on Geekcrafts.  (Please note that it is not in fact Totoro week on Geekcrafts, but we can let that slide.) These amigurumi Fuzzy Soot Sprites are adorable.  You probably have a few soot sprites lurking around your house right now, and what better way to let them know they are welcome than to give them some friends to socialize with.

Now, thanks to Niki P of NikisKnerdyKnitting on Etsy, you can do just that.

Take a look at the Sprites!

Reader Submission: Ramona Flowers Sackgirl Amigurumi

It’s a geek-culture mashup, don’t you love it? Scott Pilgrim + LittleBigPlanet = The Ramona Flowers Sackgirl Doll (omgwtfbbq so CUUUUUTE!)

In the words of the crafter Mike, owner of the Etsy shop MiCrochets:

“This little sackgirl was inspired by the SCOTT PILGRIM VS. THE WORLD movie. She has a working zipper and her arms and legs move. She stands about 9” tall. Crochet goggles and purse are removable.”

That’s some heavy duty crafting boys and girls! certainly worth a reader submission shout out.

Feeling a little…sluggish?

Futurama Brain Slug According to the academic resource Futurama Wiki, a brain slug is “a species of space parasite that attaches its jelly-like body to the skull, presumably the brain of a human, and controls them. The specimen is green in color and consists of a translucent jelly-like body complete with two feelers and one large eyeball…The easiest way to tell if someone is infected would be the Brain Slug mass which sits atop of their head.

Should you wish to make someone think he is infected, just perch one of these crocheted Brain Slugs on his noggin. Hilarity is sure to ensue.

This project makes me think of another amigurumi project – Baby Monsters by Allison Hoffman, aka CraftyIsCool. I made some in red for co-workers for Valentine’s Day, and called them “Love Monsters“. Naturally they were a big hit.
