This weekend we’re taking a look at crafts based on old-school Nintendo controllers. (We’ll look at mod-ed controllers another week.)
1. Nintendo Controller Perler Bead Business Card Holder
Etsy seller Lost Mitten has this one-of-a-kind business card holder available in her shop. Made of fused Perler beads, this will look great on any geek’s desk.
I love tiny things. And even better than tiny things is tiny geeky things! Lauren of The Clay Collection makes amazingly detailed itty, bitty polymer clay goodies. She even takes custom orders and it looks like she can handle just about anything. Check out her Etsy shop too see all her ready-made goods. Here are a few of my favorites:
Sega Dreamcast Figurine
Donkey Kong Earrings
You must bring us….a shrubbery!!! Flickr user tattooed_geek made this absolutely perfect charm bracelet based on Monty Python and the Holy Grail. She made a vicious bunny rabbit (with “nasty, big, pointy teeth”), a Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch, a shrubbery!, galloping coconut, and an actual Holy Grail, all made from shrink plastic (remember Shrink Dinks?).
Etsy seller inhope made this super cute Ms. Pac-Man cuff bracelet out of marine vinyl. It’s available in her Etsy shop for only $11 plus shipping. Be sure to check out her other geeky crafts, including a Nintendo Controller pillow.
This item is available on Etsy. The creator describes it thusly: “it is entirely needle felted out of wool fiber with sterling silver wire, chain and clasp”. I’ll be honest, I don’t know what most of that means – I don’t sew. I do know that is a cool craft though.
