I picked up Kirby’s Epic Yarn yesterday (review to come in the near-ish future! ;D ) and we all know how easily influenced I am. So this week, my round up is all about the darling & pink Kirby.

I have Pokemon on the brain lately. I recently picked my Nintendo DS up and dusted it off, then apologized for neglecting it in favor of the evil iPad. My Pokemon: White Version cartridge was still in there and I have been playing obsessively since rediscovering it. I am fairly close to “catching ’em all”.
With Pokemon on the brain, it was inevitable that I would turn to Etsy to see what awesome Poke-crafts people have come up with. When I happened upon this Pikachu Fleece Hoodie by Etsian ErosDIY I let out a little squeak of joy. (It was a very manly squeak, I assure you.) She makes her own patterns for custom Hoodies, and tailors them to the buyer. While the listing is for a Pikachu Hoodie, she can base them on just about any Pokemon your heart desires.
I am always impressed by anyone who can take some yarn and a crochet hook and turn it into something awesome. In my mind it is cataloged as pure magic, right next to people who can take some flour and water and turn it into something edible. My feeble attempts to learn this fibre alchemy have ended in disaster, and some half finished scarves.
Etsian Steph Cortes (NerdJerk) has succeeded where I have failed so many times, and has produced some delightful Amigurumi plush toys of some of my favorite video game characters. I tossed and turned over whether to post the Goomba, the Invincibility Star, or the Bom-Omb. In the end I decided to feature the Bom-Omb because i like things that go all ‘splody.
So I posted the Bom-Omb and then Redd looked at it and was all “I already posted that Bom-Omb“. Then I was all, “No you didn’t, I totally checked“. Then she was all, “I’m pretty sure I did.” Then I was all, “Nuh Uh!” Anyway, it turns out she was right, but NerdJerk’s work is too fantastic to give up on, so I have worked some internet magic and now bring you the Invincibility Star!
I’m counting it as a tutorial because Ultra Awesome Blogger Kyle has kept Ultra Awesome detailed records of every step of the process… seriously … THIS is the pinnacle of geek craftyness… I NEED one of these for my living room…(I don’t think my Husb0t would trust me with power tools.. Anyone who’s played a Legend of Zelda game knows the perils of picking on these seemingly benign creatures. If Link smacks ’em around one time too many, they’ll swarm him in a flurry of vengeful, feathered fury.
Liyo –a research scientist by day, crafter by night– has captured this dramatic scene in a cute plastic bracelet.
