Here Be Dragon…Mitts

mythic_wendyb

February is nearly over but I’m still cold.  So I have been looking at all warm weather things, and pondering making thrummed everything.  And looking at stranded items. These mittens came up and until the end of today they are on sale for 40% off the pattern.

I will be trying my hand at colorwork once again to do these mitts. I think I may make them in red and gold for Merlin or Red and black for House Targaryen. Hmm, red and black are my favorite colors.   Fire and Blood it is.

Knit a Pair of Johnlock Mittens

Series 3 of BBC’s Sherlock has just wrapped and these mittens are  a great project to work on during your next re watch.  You know you want to. This pattern actually came out in December so a good wintery pattern.  You have Sherlock and John on the back of you hands deducing their way through the wintery weather.

Pick two colors, possibly one for Sherlock and one for John and get crafting.

Totoro Crochet Backpack Pattern

So when this pattern by user hellohappylisa over on Tumblr caught my eye it was clear I would have to share it with you all. Who wouldn’t want to crochet this happy pattern? She has made it available in her Etsy shop. And I should warn you before you head over there you may need to gird yourself against the cute. There is a lot of it in the shop.

Knit Charts for Minecraft, Steve, and Creepers

These knitting charts are a great way to place some Minecraft love on  anything. Ravelry user Jenna La Due has shared a free set of charts to do with what you will.

jenna_la_due_minecraftShe used the charts to make a sweater, but you can see on the project page, that there have been socks and a hat made using these charts.

Pattern: Our Wall Is Not For Target Practice Mitts

Wandering  Tumblr as one waits for a blizzard (oh its here guys its here) reminded me of something else that was back. The BBC’s Sherlock.  I saw, webpixies Fingerless Mitts and grinned. I mean it wouldn’t be the first time, that I had a themed post so welcome back Sherlock. We are quite happy that you live again even if it took a few years.

Webpixie used  the free pattern by Ampersand Designs  and altered the  mitten pattern into a pair of fingerless gloves. And one has to love the happy face addition on her mitts.  Mitten or Mitts, its a fun knittterly way to show your joy at returning to Baker Street.

Pattern: There and Back Again Story Scarf

Frivolite Handcrafts is at it again. This time with  a Hobbit themed double knit scarf. There and Back Again Story Scarf, knits out the tale of The Hobbit.  You read that right, Knits out the story of The Hobbit.  You should go to the project page, just so you can read the fun little  story that goes with the scarf. In the same spirit as The Hobbit, this scarf is enough to make you smile.

Again this scarf, like the day of the doctor scarf is double knitted so you see the  pattern on both sides as mirror images of each other.
