Instructables user, mimaki cg60, wanted to transform his family’s VW bus into an R2-series astromech droid. After working countless hours in CorelDraw and Photoshop on a design, he had it printed it on a vinyl wrap and applied it to the bus. Check out the series of photos of the family bus.

Cosplay Fun at Planet Comicon 2015!
I spent the past weekend at Planet Comicon in Kansas City, and even though I spent the weekend working my booth (The Costume Wrangler’s Closet), I did get to see some pretty awesome cosplay. Above are some of the amazing folks from the Iron Brothers of Topeka (IBOTS).
This little Rainbow Dalek exterminates with cuteness according to her mom!
I had to run this boy down to get his picture for a friend who’s obsessed with Sharknado. I particularly love the faux gore on all the sharks. How creative is this kid?!
I snuck a snapshot of this cosplayed in a seriously cool Groot costume.
Technically this isn’t cosplay, but the Kansas City R2 Builders Club have got some pretty amazing R2s, like this R2-Q5, an evil R2 whose allegiance belonged to the Empire!
This chainmaille She-Ra was a volunteer from Amanda Lynn Chainmaille Creations.

These Hand-Painted Shorts Are Obviously The Droids I’m Looking For
Someday, all this cold weather will end and we’ll be blistering in the dog days of summer. This might be the best time to get started on hand painting your own astromech shorts. These R2-D2 shorts were painted by Areyna Schmidt , and her Facebook page shows more of her hand painted clothes and shoes. She’s a third year art studies major at ASU and she works seasonally at Walt Disney World as a character performer.
150-Pound Life-Sized R2-D2
This R2-D2 replica created by Fernando Arreola, pastry chef and Executive Chef at Fairmont Hotel. Inspired by the Star Wars Exposition at the Tech Museum of San Jose, CA, Chef Arreola used 150 pounds of white chocolate fondant to create this sweet edible masterpiece.
The Star Wars Exposition runs until February 23, 2014.
R2-D2: Safety Droid
I know, I know, I keep posting about R2-D2, but I can’t help it. Artoo is so endearing and apparently lends himself to craft projects. Anyway, this time I stumbled across this awesome R2-D2 bike helmet, made by pastry artist, illustrator, and all-around crafty gal Jenn Hall. There is some controversy about the safety of the dimensional restraining bolt, should Jenn actually fall, but it looks amazing. And, since she made the helmet last year, hopefully she’s had time to sort out the safety issues. It is pretty phenomenal, though.
