It’s fun to dress like superheroes, but spandex isn’t comfortable and isn’t made to be worn every day. The Trend Begun by Jacob Marley

Now, I’m not going to claim that this is the world’s warmest scarf—and I know from personal experience, thanks to my lovely knitter friend Katie, who made me one—but the Marley’s Ghost scarf is definitely a statement piece. I get compliments every time I wear mine; sometimes I just wear it like a giant, slightly fuzzy necklace so that I don’t have to remove it indoors. It’s that cool.

Warmth for Science Geeks

I know a number of our American readers are unreasonably warm and toasty in some kind of freakish heatwave, but those of us in the Frigid North (and, one presumes, also in some parts of the southern hemisphere) still have over a foot of snow to deal with. So forgive me, oh sufferers of 80+ degree temperatures, for sharing this awesome thing I found! (Consider it a possibility for very early start on making a Christmas list?)

These scarves, made by Becky Stern (homepage, Etsy) display elemental emission spectra. Silicon, uranium, and mercury are currently in stock, but you can also get a custom one of any other element you like, with some delay and possibly a little extra cost. (I found this applet linked from the Wikipedia page, if you want to choose an element that appeals to you. I definitely want Cobalt, no question.)

All We Need are the Jelly Babies!

Because we have the most amazing versions of the Fourth Doctor‘s scarves I’ve ever seen. She has created both These beautiful bead work creations are by Espana Sheriff as she’s known on LiveJournal and in the Crafty_Tardis Community where she posted these lovely works of Doctor Who bead craft.

Her first one is a reproduction of the more famed one we see the Fourth Doctor wear in his adventures. The second, is the red and purple variation Tom Baker wore in his last year as the Doctor.

To quote later incarnations of the Doctor, these pieces are just fantastic and brilliant!
