Tutorial Tuesday! Monster “Ninni” plush and pattern

On February 25, 2009 blog and shop, RevoluzZza published a tutorial for a simple monster plush.  (S)he is called Ninni, isn’t (s)he adorable? ok, yea, but here’s what really makes it a Geekcraft.

Ninni is open source! Since the tutorial was published in 2009 over a hundred people have contributed their own interpretations of Ninni in the RevoluzZza Flikr Pool. I love it when the internet helps spread creativity like that!

Here’s another cool thing that’s happening in the evolution of Ninni. Craftster users Susanab and Leslieshappyheart are currently organising a Ninni swap! In this swap, Craftsters are being challenged to reinterpret the Ninni pattern to suit their partner. Another way that the internet is using the Ninni pattern to breed creativity on an international level.

Creativity is awesome. Ninni is awesome. The internet is awesome.

Tutorial Tuesday! Reverse Stencilled Tote Bag

Here’s a neat idea! lets think ‘outside the stencil’.

That’s exactly what jennieingram did when she had to quickly step into the Dr Who Swap on Craftster. Round 5 of the Dr Who swap that is… these swaps are hugely popular, they’re going to go on forever! Round 6 is crafting away as I type!

Jennie has shared a tutorial on how to achieve this effective technique on her blog, and also on Craftster.

But wait, there’s more! Turns out Jennie is quite an avid Geek-Crafter and tutorial writer. Check out her Doctor’s Companion Charm Bracelet and her tutorial on how to make Laminated Paper Bookmarks including a sonic screwdriver and a golden snitch.

Tutorial Tuesday! DOUBLE FEATURE!! Monsties and “World of Geekcraft” excerpt

I’m just getting crochet-envy now! Check out these adorable Amigurumi mini-monsters (or Monsties, if you will) Created by crocheting blogger and fellow English person EssHaych AKA Sarah from Essex…. I went to university in Essex… small world… anyhow….

You’ll have to know something about crochet (unlike me) but she’s offering the pattern for how to make these cute little critters for free over on her blog! She’s also put together a bright, clear photo tutorial to help you make those pesky legs.

These are just adorable. If I lived in a Studio Ghibli Film I would completely have a little group of them following me around everywhere I go…

World of Geekcraft by Susan BealSTOP THE PRESS!!

I got a second one for you! being that this is the Week of the World of Geekcraft (for all you wonderful people on the WorldWideWeb watching these words … uh oh.. I fell into an alliteration hole) I feel it’s my duty to point you towards the book excerpt that was featured on the Craftzine Blog yesterday.

In their celebration of the launch of the book, Craftzine are giving away a free tutorial from the book for how to craft your own “Pow!”  “Zap!” comic book fridge magnets.

Now while you’re passing the fridge, you can remind yourself that you are not a domestic Goddess, you are a domestic Superhero (key difference? superheroes can eat chocolate cheesecake… goddesses can’t they’re incorporeal! … hah! in your FACE goddesses!)

Tutorial Tuesday: Jesse/Team Rocket Cosplay!

I need this woman to be my wife, and I’m a heterosexual, pregnant, married woman. You boys have got no chance!

Ryoko-demon is a prolific cosplay artist. Here she is, utterly transformed into Jessie from Team Rocket. Her photos are amazing. And to top it all off she’s shared a tutorial on how she constructed that MINDBLOWING wig… She EVEN made HER OWN Meowth!! … I’m just… lost…. for words… need to find more synonyms for awesome…

Tutorial Tuesday! Azumarill Amigurumi – With Pattern!

I am a girl with a one track mind, and the tracks have shifted this week. I’m still hella-excited about the new series of Dr Who coming up, but that kind of obsession takes energy, which I do not have!… anyhow this week, my mind is on Pokemon!!

I’ve recently started (re-started) Pokemon Pearl. I’m a DS-aholic and I cannot afford either Pokemon black/white OR a new 3DS (and I’m quite suspicious that a 3DS might melt my brain… ) So I’m hoping Pearl will keep me occupied until those two ships have sailed… anyhow… enough about me… lets talk about crafts!

Craftster user and blogging superstar WolfDreamer . stitched up this adorable Azumarill Amigurumi. As she says in her craftster post:

“I figured this one is perfect for Easter.  Part Easter egg,  part bunny”

I figure you’re right WolfDreamer! … But wait!! there’s more!! WolfDreamer has also made the crochet pattern availiable for free on her blog!!… I love it when bloggers do that… now all I need to do is learn to crochet
