SOAP!!

Soap Retro controller, Mountain Dew-type scentEveryone needs to get clean from time to time, and what better way to accomplish this than with a bar of soap shaped like an old-school NES controller?? Chrystal Doucette’s Digitalsoaps store on Etsy sells all kinds of gamer-shaped soaps: controllers for the NES, Xbox, and the Wii. There are even soaps shaped like actual games! Mortal Kombat II for the Sega, Zombies Ate My Neighbors for the SNES, and even a Space Invaders Atari cartridge (with little green pixelated invaders available for purchase as well!) Do yourself a favor and click around the shop–you’ll find many more geeky gamer soaps.
Perhaps what I find most charming about these soaps is that they are scented to smell like Mountain Dew! This is truly a seller who’s in touch with her geek consumer base. The soaps are even vegan.

Creeper World – new RTS/defense game

creeper world
Ok, this one is totally NOT crafty at all, but a new PC/MAC game is absolutely geeky. The only reason I’m posting this is because a friend of mine created this game. The game is called Creeper World and it’s a RTS/Tower Defense type game for PC and MAC. You can find out more and download a free demo at http://knucklecracker.com. I typically dislike RTS games but I played through the first three levels right before I wrote this and enjoyed it thoroughly. I’ll be going back to finish the demo.

Stephen King Heart Embroidery

stephen-king-heart-embroidery

Today I heard the story of a 21 year old, Stephen King loving, video game geek who passed away from congestive heart failure on January 12th. Mikey was trying to “hold on” until The Watchmen movie came out, but sadly, this WOW loving geek passed before it happened. I thought to honor his memory I’d post this Stephen King Heart Embroidery that I found awhile back and was waiting for the “right time” to post.

Antarcticraft made and posted this detailed embroidery of a heart with a famous King quote “I have the heart of a small boy, it’s in a jar on my desk” embroidered in a great “creepy handwriting” style on craftster. This is something I would love to have in a frame next to my Stephen King collection on my shelf, great job, antarcticraft!
