TEN Awesome Iron Man Crafts & Projects
Who didn’t love the Iron Man movie? Here are ten of the most awesome Iron Man craft projects that you can do for $20 grand or less…most of them a LOT less!
Iron Man Full Body Suit
The Popular Mechanics website featured this “home made” Iron Man suitcrafted by Norweigan costume enthusiast, John Kristiansen and a group of his friends that call themselves TMP. They attempted to create this costume before the May release of the Iron Man film, with nothing but promo pictures of the suit and twenty-thousand dollars.
Yes, you read that correctly! Kristiansen and his pals spent TWENTY THOUSAND DOLLARS on this realistic costume. It came out so close to perfect that Paramount hired Kristiansen to make appearances around Europe to promote the DVD release, and he plans to use it for charity fundraisers and to talk to children about saftey, saying:
you may not listen to your parents, but if Iron Man tells you to wear a bike helmet, you’re going to do it.
So next time you have an extra twenty thousand sitting around, consider building a costume for a major-blockbuster film!
Kid’s Iron Man Costume
Just in case you don’t have twenty grand laying around, but your kid loves Iron Man, Daddybuilder posted this cheap and fun Kid’s Iron Man Costume that he threw together with stuff found at Goodwill, craft stores and things he found around the house. And duct tape, of course.
There is a full step-by-step on Instructables.

Iron Man Cake
If you’re in the mood to taste the power of Iron Man, check out this Iron Man Cake that MissVicki posted on her blog, Stitches Anamolous. The Iron Man image is made from colored marzipan! Great birthday cake for her boyfriend.
Iron Man Arc Reactor
This is by far one of the coolest things I have seen on the web (that I think I can actually do). Msryansford posted this Arc Reactor inspired by the second reactor used in the Iron Man movie, on Intructables.
He made this cool replica with some wood, moldable plastic and some LED lights. This is a great project if you have a basic understanding of circuits (or like me, know someone who does).
Iron Man Mask
This is another great Iron Man project by msryansford at Instructables. This one doesn’t take any electrical know-how, just cardboard, newspaper, paint and a lot of glue.
He used this as an addition to his Arc Reactor for his Halloween costume. This is a much simpler project than the Arc Reactor, and alot cheaper than the construction of the full body suit at the beginning of this article!
Iron Man Origami
Brian Chan made this detailed Iron Man Origami from only two uncut squares and posted it on his website Origami By Brian Chan.
This is quite possibly the cheapest way to own a cool action figure, but likely takes a significant chunk of time and talent!
Iron Man Print, Cut & Paste
Don’t have the time or skill it takes to craft an origami Iron Manto grace your shelf? Here’s a free and easy Iron Man papercraft designed by Robert Gatt, featured on his website, RGatt Personal Work and Tests.
Iron Man Afghan
Looking to snuggle up with Iron Man? I know I am. And now you can, with this Iron Man Crochet Pattern from Cuddle Up Creations. If you are skilled enough to pull this advanced pattern off, you could be snuggling up on the couch with your very own Iron Man afghan.
Iron Man PC Mod
TiTon posted this incredibly detailed, jaw-dropping Iron Man PC Mod on IronMods. In only three weeks, he put together the entire case including the ubiquitous arc reactor on the front of the case and the Iron Man mask on the side. Awesome!
Life Size Iron Man Statue
There is a life-size Iron Man statue for sale for about thirty-two hundred dollars. If you don’t have Tony Stark’s dough, the guy from XRobots created this Life Size Iron Man Statue from wood and cardboard! He covers his step-by-step process on the site. This would be the coolest thing in the world to have for your rec room!
You may have guessed that I am a huge fan of Iron Man, I scoured the net for any and all things Iron Man and these are the ten best Iron Man crafts is as many categories as I could find!
I admit, crocheting and the like are really not my bag–when I do the big lists I try to put up a little something for everybody, sorry if the afghan pattern stinks!
As I stumbled onto this site my son is sitting next to me playing with his IronMan. How ironic!
Hello,
Do you still happen to have your Iron Man afghan pattern?
Thank you
