Star Wars Embroidery and FREE Pattern!!

shameless self promoter!?… guilty!

My husband and I are HUGE Star Wars Geeks so I wanted to make something for our home, that I could give him for valentines day….  thus this framed embroidery piece was born!! A Geeky Sweetheart original.

If you don’t recognise the quote, educate yourself.

There are plenty of work-in progress pictures on my facebook page, and I’ve made my pattern available for free download on my blog. All the usual rules apply, don’t rip my work off and sell it on etsy, but do make one for your own home! and please let me know if you use it! I wanna see! The only thing I don’t give you is the bumble-bee, sorry, I drew that freehand.

Yub Nub Scoodie

In just a day, I’m going away for Christmas. I’ll be leaving a place that’s currently 66 degrees and going to a place that’s -5 degrees. As a project to help pass the time on my flights, and something to keep me warm once I’m there, I’ll be crocheting Kristen Stevenson’s Yub Nub (Ewok hood) scoodie. This is a free pattern on Ravelry, but you will need to make a username and password to get it.

I am going to make one change to it though. Kristen has directions on how to make the Ewok ears. However, I’m going to find a thrift store once I get a chance, buy a really nice looking teddy bear, and cut off his ears to attach to the hood, for just a touch more realism.

And if you aren’t familiar with the Ewoks, they are a fictional race of small, mammaloid bipeds that appear in the Star Wars universe. They are hunter-gatherers resembling teddy bears that inhabit the forest moon of Endor and live in various arboreal huts and other simple dwellings. They first appeared in the 1983 film Star Wars Ep. VI: Return of the Jedi, and have since appeared in two made-for-television films, Caravan of Courage: An Ewok Adventure (1984) and Ewoks: The Battle for Endor (1985), as well as a short-lived animated series and several books and games.

Merry Christmas, everyone!

A Wonder-ful Blanket Buddy

Wonder Woman blanket buddy by Amy Anderson

Lately my crochet queue has been filled with Yoda hats and Ewok scoodies, in honor of the recent Star Wars madness premiere. But I think I may have just found my next project – this adorable crochet Wonder Woman-inspired blanket buddy designed by Amy Anderson of Spicy Tuesday Crafts.

As a fellow curly girl, I am in love with her springy hair and that the blankie portion forms a sort of starry skirt. Just imagine the heroic adventures some child in your life could have with this fun lovey.

Amy’s Ravelry shop also features other geek-tastic blankies, like Batman, the Joker, and the Hulk, and you can find free patterns on her blog.
