“The Shining” Inspired Painting

1ZrnIeI

An artist by the name of Borisimo just posted this painting he/she did, on Imgur. The glare on the image is from the high gloss on it.

Unfortunately, there’s no other information to go along with the image, and Borisimo doesn’t appear to have a Deviant Art account.

4th Doctor Minimalist Painting

4th Doctor Minimilist PaintingDoctor Who has been a favorite of mine since I was just a wee little geek.  Tom Baker was the 4th Doctor in the series, but he was my first and has continued to be my favorite as the series has progressed.  His iconic scarf and hat have always defined for me the way that the Doctor should look.

This Minimalist painting by Etsian geekasms perfectly captures the 4th doctor in all his splendor.  Minimalist paintings are something I am finding very interesting right now, and have been spreading around the interwebs like wild fire.  Since I am spending a week in Jolly ol’ London, England, I thought I would share my love of Doctor Who with all of you.

Michael Parsons, who runs geekasms on Etsy, has done a whole slew of Minimalist Paintings and is selling prints on Etsy.  Some of my favorites include his Tardis and Weeping Angel prints.  Each print is signed and limited to 25 copies, so you better get them while you can.

Girl Creates Freakishly Realistic Mermaid Scales With Makeup…

ZL5LUqr

just because she was bored. :)

Makeup artist Channing Carlisle proved she was more than up to the challenge of literally turning herself into a mermaid with the help of special effects products and some makeup brands you likely have in your own arsenal right now. She explained that she was inspired by fellow makeup artist Arianna Blean, who had posted a video where she painted fish scales onto a client’s leg. (What’s a leg except for a skin-covered fish tail that’s been split in two, right?)

But Channing didn’t stop at painting scales onto her leg, as she used SFX techniques to make it seem like her skin was being ripped open to reveal a glistening tail. To achieve the look, she used Inglot Cosmetics, Mehron Makeup, and Anastasia Beverly Hills products, among other brands. The result was a look so realistic, it went viral on Twitter and left some commenters confused as to what, exactly, happened to her leg.

But if you think this is Channing’s “grossest” work, you’d be far from correct. She pointed out that last October, she’d created a “maggot-infested wound” on her own hand. Yep, definitely the grossest. Mermaids have nothing on maggots.
