Susie posted a tutorial over at Cut Out + Keep that incorporates foam, coffee stirrers, cocktail swords, polymer clay, and acrylic paint. Her design even features a hole in the front to thread a charger into so you can use it as a docking station.
I love her idea to use the cocktail swords – they look great with the metallic paint job!

For the turtle lover, you’ve got to take a look at The Whoot’s DIY Ninja Turtles. My nephews love the Turtles, and this is the sort of craft you could do with little boys (and plenty of supervision!).
These Muppet ornaments are super easy to make too, thanks to the great tutorial from Meg on Happy Looks Good on You. These little cuties were inspired by her original tutorial on making superhero ornaments.
Kat and Cam from Our Nerd Home has a some great ideas for decorating the home for the holidays, including this Wreath DIY made from foam core! I bet craft foam would work great too. Plus, you could totally customize this to all of your own favorite fandom images.
I have to share their 8-bit fireplace DIY too. This is too awesome for words, and incredibly easy to do. It’s warm and cozy, don’t you think?
This last decor DIY is not for the faint of heart, but this Embroidery tutorial from Jessica (from Miniature Rhino) on Design Sponge takes you step-by-step through making this beautiful embroidered constellation table runner. Perhaps not strictly a holiday theme, I think it lends itself well to any winter themed decor you’ve got going on in your home.
The Holidays are coming! The Holidays! Currently its early enough that you can still make something, or get gifts to decorate for the holidays. So we are going to start with geeky ornaments. Hallmark is surprisingly good at this, but we have so many options, from making to buying. And its not too late to start making!
I’ve put together a treasury list of a variety of geeky ornaments one can find from a variety of sellers on Etsy. They are a mix of shapes, styles, and fandoms and nearly all the shops cover more than the fandom pictured. So I would say give it a click through and enjoy.

An added bonus for My_RubySlippers: she is also an archer and the design works well and stays put while staying out of the way, while out shooting some arrows.
She has her pattern available for sale in her Etsy shop, Orange September, for anyone that’s interested. This fun and trendy cowl is seamless and reversible. The armhole can be left or right, and cowl can be worn over a shirt, sweater, or jacket. Instructions given for two size ranges, S/M (formerly One-Size Fits Most) and L/XL. It will also stretch to fit a range of sizes when crocheted with recommended yarn and hook size, and matching the gauge.

Natalia Moreva of Kulabra designs has designed these mittens that make me want to rethink my mitten ban (everything falls to the floor if I wear mittens). But these call to the Tolkien geek in me.
So why not buy a copy of the pattern, and get knitting, and have a new pair of mittens for when the last Hobbit movie comes out?
I love surfing about the interwebs and happening upon geeky crafts. I feel an immediate kinship with the person – here’s someone who’s both crafty AND geeky, like me! And when – BONUS! – they include a step-by-step tutorial, I do a little happy dance. Kacey at Stay at Home Artist provided just such an example with her Harry Potter Freezer Paper Stencil t-shirt tutorial.
With her step-outs, even if you aren’t crazy-graphically-gifted like Kacey (that script text! that stag!), you can still pump out a cool t-shirt that pays homage to whatever fandom trips your trigger.
