Easy DIY Wands

DIY Chop Stick Wands

This is a smart tutorial from Majann on DeviantArt, in that it’s a really simple, easy, yet super effective geek craft. Great for cosplay, Wizard Parties, or just to have a selection of wands on hand… just in case.

Majann’s photo tutorial shows how to make great looking wands using wooden cheap chop sticks, hot glue, random beads and acrylic paint – Pheonix tail feathers and such not needed! Just be careful not to burn yourself on the hot glue.

Choose Wisely – A Harry Potter Game

choose wisely - a harry potter game

Don’t you ever wish Bertie Bott’s Every Flavour Beans were a staple? While I’m probably not very fond of jelly beans tasting like bogey, it would certainly make munching on them very interesting.

Craftster-user patty_o_furniture agrees, so she created Choose Wisely. This intriguing game is inspired by Harry Potter and looks as if it’s made by the Weasley’s. They could certainly come up with a game in which you may or may not find the taste of earwax in your mouth! The variety of accessories and the box which the game resides looks absolutely stunning and captures the atmosphere of the magical world quite well. For more photographs and information, I direct you to patty_o_furniture’s post.

Knit Your Own Superhero, or Stormtrooper, or Hobbit

nerdknitter_spidy
Nerd Knitting on Tumblr has a series of patterns for dolls, across a variety of fandoms. But what caught my eye was one of the most recent posts. With Great Knitting Comes Great Responsibility.

Spider-Man has always been one of my favorite superheroes. So I was even more pleased when I wandered over to the tumblr and found characters from Star Wars, Game of Thrones, Batman, The Hobbit, and even Captain Jack…Sparrow.  The pattern is worked flat then sown up and stuffed to make the doll.  The patterns build up from one another, so I’d say read a couple before you get started, but this is mentioned in each one. So get your needles and  ‘Let’s put a smile on that face’.

Harry Potter Chess Set

Harry Potter chess set

We are big Harry Potter fans at my house – my husband read every book out loud to us as a family, and of course we saw all the movies. Not only was it fantastic to see the stories played out on the big screen, but it was fun to watch the actors grow older with each new movie. And some surprises there – Neville Longbottom, anyone??

But I digress. Let’s get on with the geek-crafting sharing. I saw this Harry Potter Chess Set with fun matching bag on Mod Podge Rocks recently, and knew you all would want to see it too. Thankfully the original project is shared on Instructables, so you can conjure up your own magically strategic set, too!
