Optimus Prime + The TARDIS = Awesome.

tardis-transformer-1

I love Transformers. I love Doctor Who.  So, what’s not to love about a 3-D printed, actual working/transforming Tardimus Prime??!! Seriously.  What’s not to love? Inspired by Jason Casteel’s TARDIS Prime artwork, user Ellindsey designed and created this 3-D printed realization, and it actually transforms.  What’s even cooler is you can find Ellindsey’s CAD files and instructions for building your own. Oh, for a 3-D printer.  Even you don’t have one, you should definitely check out the link for the additional pictures.  Transform and roll out!

Level up with a GamerGhan!

GamerGhan by Alicia1018

I’ve featured some geektastic afghans here on GeekCrafts, such as Lattes & Llamas Geek-a-Longs (2014 and 2015), as well as a Settlers of Catan blanket. On Ravelry recently I stumbled across this beauty by Alicia1018, which she aptly calls her GamerGhan.

Twenty-five crochet squares pay homage to a variety of video games, including Tetris, Minecraft, Angry Birds, Harvest Moon, Pac-Man, World of Warcraft, and Oblivion. Alicia very kindly uploaded patterns for all of the squares – you can find them linked in her Ravelry project post.

What video games would you include in blanket form? Let us know in the comments below!

Papercraft Minecraft Torch – Pin of the Week

minecraft torch papercraft

I really like the idea of this DIY Minecraft torch. It looks super easy to make, not too expensive, and it would look great to have them dotted around the place for a Minecraft themed party, or even just as part of your everyday décor! There are full instructions of how to make your own papercraft torch, as well as a template to print your own. Happy Mining! :)

Edited to add the original source of the pictures here and the design here.

Fan Made “Black Widow” Title Sequence

Christopher Haley has created a fantastic title sequence for a Black Widow movie, featuring the song, “Sour Days” by Portishead. It was actually made for an After Effects class.

Black Widow’s villain would be. . . Black Widow. Yelena Belova, to be specific. Belova believes herself to be the superior Black Widow, and in some ways she is right. Swift and ruthless, Belova is the most talented assassin to graduate from the Red Room–and now she is Hydra’s most deadly weapon. At Belova’s side is a super-soldier of her own, Alexi Shostakov–the Red Guardian, who also happens to be Natasha’s former lover. When the new heads of Hydra make a play for the power of the infinity stones it is up to S.H.I.E.L.D.’s top agent to stop them.

Despite Marvel not showing an interest in prolonging the movie lives of their female heroes, I think the powers that be need to take a hard look at this gem. It’s got a real 1960’s/Cold War/James Bond vibe to it. Black Widow isn’t one of “my” characters, but I’d see this movie in a heartbeat!

Get Your Last-Minute Geek On with Christmas Printables

Happy Who-lidays TARDIS Christmas card by Natalie Shaw at Doodlecraft

The countdown to Christmas is down to single digits now – are you ready? I still have some wrapping to do, so of course I turned to the Internets for some ideas. And they did not disappoint. Here are several options for adding some geek flair to your gift wrapping.

First up is a series of Doctor Who-inspired printable holiday cards (like the one pictured above) by Natalie Shaw at Doodlecraft. (You may remember her Doctor Who Holiday Countdown I recently linked to.) Well, she has even more Doctor Who craft ideas up her sleeve! She created A2 card size (1/4 of a sheet) images featuring Daleks, Judoon, Weeping Angels, the Silence, and Cybermen. Hey, even villains celebrate holidays!

Minecraft gift tags by Ellie Petrov

Next up, Ellie Petrov designed some Minecraft gift tags and graciously shared them. She offers a PDF of Minecraft Santa tags, and one of Minecraft snowmen.

Doctor Who printable gift tags from Being Geek Chic

Liz over at Being Geek Chic also has some Doctor Who-inspired printable wrapping options – both gift tags and wrapping paper.

Have you found any other geeky wrapping options? How are you planning to add geek flair to your holidays?
