In just a year, I’m going to be finished with college. Soon, I’ll have to decide what to do with the rest of my life! Every time I see a baby in a pram or stroller, I squee with delight, so little geeky addition sounds just lovely. Young children are a great inspiration for crafts. I honestly can’t wait to turn our study into a Nintendo-themed bedroom and start finger-painting Pokémon with the little ones.

Winner of the Sheldon Cooper Ami Giveaway

0341_jimparsonssheldondoll-50c0d70bc2b98At the end of March, I posted an entry about A(mi)dorable Crochet’s giveaway of an ami Sheldon Cooper. The deadline to enter was April 7th, 2013 at 7 PM.

A(mi)dorable used a true random number generator to pick her winner. Out of 73 comments on her blog, the winning commenter was number 17 (d430f8d0-98d7-11e2-99e1-000bcdcb8a73, an AOL OpenId user), and he/she has until April 9th at 8 PM to email A(mi) and claim Sheldon. The winning comment on the best Sheldon moment was, “I fave is when Sheldon is dressed as the “FLASH” and does everything slow like he is really doing it extra fast.. LOL.”

I think Chewbacca is one of the most misunderstood characters on Star Wars – probably because very few speak Wookie. Fortunately the pattern for this Chewbacca Domo appears very easy to understand, so with just a few snips and stitches you can have one for your very own. He even includes a video tutorial!

How cute would this look on your bed? I think it would make a great addition to a dorm room or geek den, too.

Sherlock morse code bracelets

These Sherlock morse code bracelets are fantastic!! I love them! Final Problem on Tumblr made them, and gives instructions! There’s also a link to a morse code translator to make other sayings! I can’t wait to try this out!! This quote is from the episode ‘The Hounds of Baskerville’ (S2E2) and is one of my favourite moments between Sherlock and John!

Jawa Birthday Cake

I just want to start this post out by saying I am a grown woman in her 30’s. And this cake made me jealous of the 5 year old girl that got this for her birthday last year. :)

Fat Tony 1138 shared this photo of a homemade Jawa cake on his Flickr account.

“Here’s another of my wife’s cake creations, this one was all her idea. It was made for our friends’ daughter’s 5th birthday. Chocolate cake with chocolate fondant using the same teddy bear cake pan as her two previous cakes, the Ewok and Nibbler. The light up eyes are mini party light LEDs from the craft store.”

There’s been no word on whether or no Fat Tony 1138’s wife would take orders on a cake like this. :)

Star Wars Boba Fett Lamp

boba-lampSo you’ve got your R2-D2 bra all made, but you’re still needing to make something else Star Wars related…what to make, what to make? If you’re feeling  like a simple craft and you’ve got a few things to upcycle, then the Boba Fett lamp might be right up your alley.

Major League Mods has posted a fairly simple tutorial over at Instructables on how to take a simple lamp base and a Boba Fett helmet and turn them into a new lamp. The nice thing about this tutorial, that while it uses a Boba Fett helmet, you could use any toy helmet: Darth Vader, any kind of trooper, maybe even an Iron Man helmet.
