Tutorial: Stargate Glyph Recycled Foam Stamp

Wasn’t Stargate fantastic?! I watched a couple of old SG:1 episodes recently, and suddenly got the urge to do something crafty involving the gate glyphs. I had a rummage in my drawer of hoarded crap, and found some of that really smooth protective foam that comes with some electronics. You know the stuff that has a really fine grain and is probably not recyclable?! Well that’s the kind of stuff I keep hold of just for occasions like this!

How to Train Your Dragon – Toothless Plush

One of my favorite movies is How To Train Your Dragon – I especially love Toothless, the Nightfury dragon that Hiccup befriends over the course of the movie.  One of the problems for Toothless fans everywhere, though, was the fact that the official plush for the movie looked downright ugly.  (I’ll spare you all and not link to it here!)  nooby-banana on DeviantArt, however, created a solution to that problem.

toothlessplushThis Toothless Plush looks much better than the official movie plush!  There’s a tutorial for creating a Toothless of your very own that starts here – it’s split into seven parts, and is pretty easy to follow.  I’ve even made my own Toothless following the pattern – and while it was definitely time-consuming, it was worth all the work.

toothlessplush_bethThis guy here is the one I made – you can read more about him here!

Harry Potter Monopoly!

harry potter monopoly

Holy Cricket!! »rc on Design in Technology Education made this AMAZING Harry Potter Monopoly game! I would pay a lot of money for this! And the best part is, he has also uploaded the files to make your own Harry Potter Monopoly, and a post to give you some hints on making your own game! All you need is an old monopoly game, a colour printer (the board has to be printed in two parts), some mod podge (or similar) and a bit of spare time! I am so excited by this! I’m going to spend my afternoon trawling the charity shops for and old monopoly game! I might even make some player pieces out of fimo!
