A Baby Quilt for the Brightest Day and Blackest Night

Green Lantern baby quilt By Jennys Quilts

One of my son’s favorite comic book characters is Green Lantern. If I were a quilter, I would make him something like this Green Lantern baby quilt from Jenny Quilts. I love how simple yet bold it is.

What geeky quilt projects have caught your eye?

Pokemon Hair Bows

These adorable Pokemon bows were personally drawn and designed  by Riri. She then custom printed on fabric. After she has the fabric, she makes these cute bows, fantastic! I love that she created every step of the way, something she truly DIYed. pokemonbows

Want to see more of her creations? Of course you do! She has a tumblr you can check out! Who’s your favourite Pokemon?

How to Train Your Dragon Cosplay: Astrid

How to Train Your Dragon Astrid cosplay by Ms_Ventress

In honor of the recent release of “How to Train Your Dragon 2” in theatres, I thought it would be fun to share this Astrid cosplay, by Canadian cosplayer Ms_Ventress.

That skirt is pretty hard core with the strips of thick leather, plus skulls and spikes, which she created from Crayola Model Magic, then spray painted and distressed.

Check out the photos on her Facebook Page for tons of photos of other cosplay she has done, including Hawkgirl, Harley Quinn, the Huntress, Red Sonja, and Coraline.

Have you seen the second How to Train Your Dragon (HTTYD) movie yet? We saw it last weekend and loved it! Very consistent with the first movie, and even better visual effects and textures.

Bust of Christopher Reeve

I don’t remember how I came across this gallery, but the work done by Bobby Causey is just amazing. This bust of Christopher Reeve as Superman (minus the suit, just yet) took my breath away. But then again, I think Christopher Reeve was my first celebrity crush as a little geek girl.

The detail in the skin complexion (how his skin isn’t all one even color is just amazing to me. His eyes look like he could just blink at any minute. Bobby posted this is a prototype for a 1/3 and 1/1 statue.

Be sure to check out Bobby’s website for more statues and busts. His Heath Ledger “Joker” is truly eerie!

Star Trek Craft: ComBadge Earrings

Star Trek ComBadge earrings by Tally Heilke

Stay in touch with your away team with these fantastic Star Trek ComBadge Earrings. Tally Heilke provides a full tutorial on her blog. Not exactly a typical Father’s Day sort of craft, but suitable for me, since my dad was the one who initiated me into the world of Star Trek.

As a scrapbooker with a basement full of paper stash, I was intrigued to see the earrings are made out of cardstock! Plus it’s an excuse to break out some power tools! <insert Tim Allen-esque grunting>

Are you planning any Star Trek cosplay for upcoming cons? These would be the perfect accessory!
