Galactically Awesome Star Wars Shoes

hand-painted Star Wars shoes

Holy Mother of Meteors, these shoes are full of all kinds of sassy geekitude! I would so rock these.

Spied on Geek-lee-tist, these custom-made hand-painted Star Wars shoes are the handiwork of Holly Grothues on Etsy. I bow to her greatness – of painting ability, and geek-lovin’ creativity.

What I love is that she’s not married to Star Wars – she’s totally geek-friendly:

“I can do pretty much ANYTHING, from geekery (Harry Potter, LOTR, Star Wars, Star Trek, The Hunger Games, etc.) other movies, animes, video games, etc. to general designs (stripes, polka dots, etc.), personalization (quotes, names, etc.) you name it!”

I would have a hard time choosing between Star Trek images and some Firefly quotes, but you can bet I’m going to start looking for the right pair of fabric-based heels!

And you? What custom order would you request for your own geek-tastic heels?

For Little Geeks on the Go!

For those of us who are parents, we all deal with the same problem of how to keep our little geeklings occupied and/or quiet when needed. Yesterday while perusing Pinterest, I found the most amazing answer!

A Star Trek Quiet Book!  I am in AWE! Julie has created an amazing quiet book complete with a full set of the Next Gen characters in finger puppet form, transporter, a Vulcan salute and Geordie’s glasses.

Heck, I think I’d have to buy two of these books. One for my kids and one for ME!

Check out Julie’s etsy for even more of her geeky, creative genius!

Star Wars Inspired Boutonnieres

It’s about Prom time, and getting close to the busy wedding season. With that in mind, here is an awesome idea to geekify your wedding in a simple, but awesome way.

For those of us dating/marrying geeks, its hard to find a way to show our geekiness in a fun but easy way that won’t distract from the event as a whole. If you don’t want a cake in the shape of the Millennium Falcon, or to carry around a storm trooper helmet to prom, try these:

Made by Kristylynn84 on Instructables.com, she goes through each step individually on how to make Star Wars inspired Boutonnieres. These boutonnieres certainly wouldn’t detract from the wedding, and would definitely give you brownie points with your geeky date to the prom.

Tutorial Tuesday: Star Wars Knitting Charts

Via Pinterest

This baby blanket is practically a reason to procreate!
(Geekcrafts does not endorse the practice of procreation in order to receive knitted goods…)

Want to make it for someone you know/love/met today on a bus?! Well you’re in luck! because the fabulous Leah Fenton has made the knitting charts available free on Ravelry and her own website.

Perhaps you cross stitch and you can’t decide whether to knit them or use the charts as part of an awesome sampler? I can feel the conflict within you!

Resin-Coated Rowling

I stumbled across these awesome Resin bottle caps by Heidi of Digknity on the Rae Gun Ramblings blog, where she has kindly posted some free printables and a tutorial to help you make your own – which quite clearly calls for a round of drinks in her honour (hey, we need the bottle tops to craft with…).

Now, my personal favourite are the Potter ones, but that’s Not to say I don’t have a soft spot for a bit of Battle Royale USA too. Both Heidi and Marissa (the blogger behind Rae Gun Ramblings) are both massive book nerds, so it’s well worth digging through their sites to find some of the brilliance on offer.
