Just one little Christmas craft before the ornaments and decorations are put away: BB-8, the rolling volleyball-like droid from the upcoming, “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.” Here it is, in all it’s Styrofoam ball and glitter glory. Looks cute, but I know in our house with a new cat, this wouldn’t have made it through the first night of being on the tree.
It was posted about two weeks before Christmas to Imgur, by someone who made it for their first homemade Christmas decoration exchange. There wasn’t any information available as to whether or not the maker actually made an extra one for him/herself to keep.
Let’s pretend you’ve got all your shopping done for Christmas. Now what? If you’re like me (well, if you’re like me you don’t have any shopping done, but like I said, let’s pretend) if you’re like me, you suck at wrapping gifts. Even if your wrapped gifts end up looking like a two-year-old went crazy with a roll of scotch tape, the paper itself can look really cool, and you can make it yourself! This Vulcan symbol represents the IDIC philosophy – “Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combinations,” which according to the Memory Alpha wiki, celebrates “the vast array of variables in the universe. In the Vulcan language, the term for IDIC is Kol-Ut-Shan.”
I like the simplicity of the IDIC symbol, and that it would just look like any other ornament unless you’re steeped in geek culture. Which of course we are.

For the turtle lover, you’ve got to take a look at The Whoot’s DIY Ninja Turtles. My nephews love the Turtles, and this is the sort of craft you could do with little boys (and plenty of supervision!).
