Are You Satisfied With Your Care?

Hello All! I hope you all had an amazing Thanksgiving (or a great Thursday, if you’re outside the US). If you’re looking for movies to go see this weekend, I highly recommend Big Hero 6. It’s adorable and full of science! Plus, Baymax, who is the lovable healthcare robot, is a truly great character.

Part of Baymax’s programming is to be huggable and caring, and these crafts can help you make your very own robot healthcare companion!

First, for all you crochet lovers, Kamilla has posted an accurate and adorable crochet pattern on her blog, krawka.blogspot.com.

If you’re looking for a quick and cute project, Carolina from 30minutecrafts.com has instructions for a Baymax Bandage Tin, for those accident-prone people in your life, or those who just like to be prepared. (It’d make a clever stocking stuffer as well!)

And lastly, Jessica has posted her version of a Baymax plushie, filled with rice so you can heat him up to help with aches and pains. You can buy the plushie for $45 from her etsy store, or you can follow the plushie tutorial made by Hiro Hamada and make your own!

Lightsaber Hilts from Utah

Last week, I ordered a lightsaber hilt from Salt Lake Saber Company on Etsy.

For cosplay and display, these hilts do not have blades or electronics, but they are made out of steel, vinyl and plastic, and come in either a chrome or satin nickel finish. These hilts can be made to order with custom specifications for only $30 each, but Blaire Maynes also sells pre-made hilts (which is what I ordered), which are only $25 each. Blaire sells high quality (and heavy) lightsaber hilts. Blaire even has a couple of blasters available.

There are other companies that sell all the parts needed to make a hilt, either with or without electronics (but you still have to put them together yourself), or you can go online to get a tutorial on how to get all the parts locally and make your own hilt. I tried making my own hilt earlier this year, and it was not a pretty finished sight!

If you have a future Jedi Knight on your Christmas list and you can’t find the right gift for him/her, check out Salt Lake Saber Company’s Etsy shop. You won’t be disappointed. Blaire’s lightsaber hilts look movie set quality.

Mom Draws Geektastic Pop Culture Artwork on Her Children’s Lunch Bags Every Day

Each day, Christy Kilgore of eastern Illinois likes to bring a little sunlight in her children’s life by drawing pop culture artwork on the lunch bags they bring to school. She’s been doing this for about a year now and uses regular colored pencils, sharpies, and crayola markers to create her art. Countdown to Christmas, Doctor Who Style

Step into many retail outlets these days, and you’re likely to met with visions of gingerbread-spiced this, and holiday-bedecked that. The countdown to Christmas is on! But leave it to a geek blogger to put a Doctor Who spin on that! Natalie at Doodlecraft is hip deep in a crafty countdown – “Like the ’12 Days of Christmas’…but for Doctor Who!” – posting a different Doctor Who craft every day!

She is drawing inspiration from across the full history of the beloved series, starting with blue crystal signet jewelry inspired by the first Doctor, William Hartnett, through Tom Baker’s iconic scarf (see above), and a patchwork bean bag warmer ode to Collin Baker (the 6th Doctor). Agents of Shield: Alien Script Scarf

Agents of Shield, is the show that kept slowly worming its way into my heart, and now I’m glad I stuck with it. And speaking of worming its way, Coulson has been having some issues with some Alien writing for some time now. He finally has some answers, and we have a pattern for a scarf to wear.

ConcertiGrossi over on Tumblr created the charts so you can have your own alien script without having to visit Tahiti, I hear it’s a magical place. It is a double knit scarf, which means you work both sides at the same time and end up with a mirror image of what you are working on.
