READER SUBMISSION: River Song Plushie

Dr. River SongI love Doctor Who, I love classic Who, new Who, I love Number Ten, and I LOVE Eleven. But the character that has been making the last few seasons spectacular, in my humblest of opinions, is Dr. River Song. She is just hot in all the right ways and cool in all the right ways–and now that we know who she is, I can’t wait to see how things play out.

Rain submitted this awesome River Song Plushie from her MoonyCouture Etsy Shop. They can make you a plushie of ANY human character on the show (and I even spotted a Weeping Angel in there)! They are really cool, and I don’t know how anyone could stand to pick just one!

Tutorial Tuesday: Dr Who Gloves!

Via Crafty Tardis.

Yep, Fez mitts are cool.

Don’t know about everywhere else in the world, but in the UK we’re suffering from Dr Who withdrawal now that the season’s over.

The great thing about this free mitten pattern from Nyss from Pixelated Mushroom that they are flip-top, so you can still make use of them in the summer. I’m thinking about British summer here, of course. Or if you’re like me, if you start to knit now you may just finish them in time for the winter.

Gotta love that bow tie.

Nyan Cat Crochet Scarf

Nyan Cat Crochet ScarfFor the uninitiated, Nyan Cat is is an 8-bit animation depicting a cat with the body of a cherry pop tart flying through outer space.  I have always been fascinated by internet memes, and have seen many flying cats and at least a few pastry cats, but the cuteness and absurdity of Nyan Cat is certainly the pinnacle of “flying pastry cats” on the internet.

Etsian BlackPie has brought Nyan Cat off the screen and into your home with this delightful Nyan Cat crochet scarf.  Not only will you look cute and cozy in this wonderful tribute to Nyan Cat, but when life gets too stressful you can just close your eyes and imagine flying through space.

What are you waiting for?  Get the scarf!

Jayne’s grenade

I am always pleased to find references to the tragically-short-lived, but epically-awesome TV series “Firefly“. I am of the opinion that any day with a little Firefly injected in it is a good day. Just the other night I had cause to exclaim, “Sure would be nice to have some grenades, dontcha think?”

Jayne Cobb's propsAnd lo, what does teh Internets yield up to me? One of Jayne’s grenades! (shown at the far left in this picture)

With all the fanfare for Jayne Cobb’s hat, I was very impressed to see someone step outside the knitting box and go straight for the ammo! Kudos to Brian at StormtrooperGuy.

4th Doctor Minimalist Painting

4th Doctor Minimilist PaintingDoctor Who has been a favorite of mine since I was just a wee little geek.  Tom Baker was the 4th Doctor in the series, but he was my first and has continued to be my favorite as the series has progressed.  His iconic scarf and hat have always defined for me the way that the Doctor should look.

This Minimalist painting by Etsian geekasms perfectly captures the 4th doctor in all his splendor.  Minimalist paintings are something I am finding very interesting right now, and have been spreading around the interwebs like wild fire.  Since I am spending a week in Jolly ol’ London, England, I thought I would share my love of Doctor Who with all of you.

Michael Parsons, who runs geekasms on Etsy, has done a whole slew of Minimalist Paintings and is selling prints on Etsy.  Some of my favorites include his Tardis and Weeping Angel prints.  Each print is signed and limited to 25 copies, so you better get them while you can.

Go get the Print!

Baby Bender Amigurumi

Precocious little scamps, aren’t they? These Baby Benders were made by Loefferst (one commissioned by a friend, the other to keep for herself). “Taken straight out of the episode “Lethal Inspection” these lovable little Benders come complete with Mexican beer”. Those beer bottles are life size! These have to be my favorite Futurama amigurumi ever! They took 30 hours, so they’re both full of that emotion I understand is called love.
