“Friends” Replica Apartment

I love this because it’s not the typical “geek” craft. Sayingwhatyourethinking posted a series of photos over on Imgur, and they are all close-ups of Monica and Rachel’s apartment from “Friends,” minus the bathroom, bedrooms and Monica’s messy closet at the end of the hallway. You can even see the little balcony where the group could watch Ugly Naked Guy across the way.

Unfortunately, for all it’s detail, Sayingwhatyourethinking didn’t mention if it was his project or one that he saw online and just really liked.

A Decepticon In Foam

Jamie, AKA Familyman, posted his lifesize Ravage Decepticon that he made, over at Seibertron.

Jamie builds replica props out of foam anti-fatigue mats. This Ravage is for display and to help Jamie get the templates all correct, so he can build a few more for sale. He’s also built a life size R2 out of foam, Wall-e, proton pack, Flux capacitor, and a Horus headdress from StarGate SG-1. Currently, he’s also working on an Ironman costume, Master Chief costume and K9 from “Doctor Who.” Check out his Facebook page, Foamtastic Props, for more photos of his other projects and to see if there’s anything you need for your own collection.

Make your Bedroom Bigger on the Inside With this TARDIS Fold-Down Bed

The Time Lords of Gallifrey know a thing or two about interior design. Blogger and DIY-er Stubbs from “The Stubby Thumb” wanted to to make her guest bedroom a little bigger on the inside, and since “Murphy beds” were a little too expensive, she decided to make one of her own.

Since Murphy beds are the ultimate space maximizers, it only made sense to build it using Time Lord technology: bigger on the inside! Even of you don’t need a Murphy bed, you can use her guidance to turn a door, closet or table top into your very own TARDIS.

Geek Out With Free Hand Embroidery Patterns and Tutorials

This year, don’t just let your geek flag fly. Hand embroider that geek flag with your favorite quote or character.

If you enjoy the Dresden Files, you’ll love this free hand embroidery pattern designed by Jennifer from Sew Hooked. Check out her blog and Craftsy store for more original pattern designs.

I’m totally Sher-locked myself, so this next free hand embroidery pattern by Jordan F (username: dozmuffinxc), as found on FandomStiches.com is something I’m definitely going to try.

The only thing is, I look at these fun patterns and can’t help but wonder, how do you make a quote or line drawing into an embroidery pattern. I did a little digging and found this awesome tutorial on making your own hand embroidery design from Angel and Amy on their blog Tada! Creations.

And then I found another tutorial on color tinting your embroidery using crayons and an iron. The technique is so easy, but the impact of the final product packs a real wallop. I found this tutorial on Urban Threads, and it’s got great step-by-step instructions with pictures.

Where No Gingerbread Ship Has Gone Before

It’s the USS Enterprise, made out of gingerbread! Have you see how beautiful and detailed this thing is? It’s mounted on a tractor beam made of candy canes hovering over a rocky terrain of cookies and mints. The starship was on display at the Blackmarket Bakery in Costa Mesa, CA, who created it for the holidays.

A Custom Repaint of a “Big Bang Theory” Sheldon Cooper Doll

Noel Cruz is an artist of several mediums, but his work with repainting regular dolls into mini masterpieces might be his most stunning work ever! Noel describes repainting a new form of pop art, wherein the doll’s face is treated like a three dimensional canvas, with the added challenge of painting within a very small area and an even greater challenge of recreating a real person’s likeness. Since dolls are basically miniature pieces, brush strokes and shading have to be very controlled and precise.

With his work on the Sheldon Cooper doll, he started with the formerly Tonner’s 17-inch San Diego Comic Con 2014 exclusive Sheldon Cooper doll, trimmed his hair, removed all the paint from the face, and started repainting it, spending a good amount of time to create the illusion of contouring. Once Sheldon’s mini me was finished, Noel put him on eBay, where he sold in October 2014, for $535.
