Demostheness posted a photo of a custom paint job, Star Trek-style, a friend of her’s did on a dresser.
The font is from “The Next Generation” series, but the colors and the insignia are from the original series. It’s a seamless joining of the generations! I mean, now her friend has a place to keep all of her uniforms, but hopefully, she keeps the red shirts somewhere else!
Last week, we had an entry about the chair Reallylovely, from over at Imgur, made of Finn from “Adventure Time.” Since then, Reallylovely has posted an update on Imgur about the chair.
Reallylovely found the chair frame, without a seat, at an antiques shop, saying she first started painting Dia De Los Muertos skulls and designs on chairs last year, and re-designing old furniture has quickly become a life’s passion.
And for a nice little addition, Reallylovely said the chair includes three coats of glow in the dark paint on his hood and socks, directly over the white paint. The back of the chair is entirely white.
And yes, it’s still for sale, if anyone wants to contact Reallylovely.
Reallylovely from over at Imgur, posted this chair he/she painted of Finn from “Adventure Time.” It’s got some really great (and simple) bones to it, that just make it scream out for a cartoon paint job!
There’s not a lot of info on it, other than Reallylovely made it and it’s for sale. Personally, if I made something like this, I’m keeping it for myself!
At the 2014 Allentown Comic Con there was a cosplay contest judged by celebrity cosplayers Riki Lecotey a.k.a. “Riddle” and Nicole Marie Jean. To keep the crowd entertained while they deliberated, they asked Robert Franzese, the perfect Peter Griffin cosplayer, to take the mic and he completely KILLED it!

By all means, this is not an elaborate cosplay, but it works because it’s so simple: glasses, white shirt, green pants, and a belt buckle. However, this guy has nailed it with the voice, the laugh and the banter he does. I mean, he actually makes Peter into a cute character! I’d love to see him team up with a Lois Griffin impersonator!
Or maybe this post should be called “Game of Phones.”

There’s not much about it, other than it’s made with Styrofoam, hot glue, a package (or two) of plastic hors d’oeuvres swords, clay and paint. For a photo tute, check out her posting on Imgur.
As an early Father’s Day gift this year, I took my dad to an author Q&A session with Jim Butcher, author of The Dresden Files series of books about Chicago’s first (and only) wizard private investigator. I prepared for the session by listening to a couple of the books (they’re narrated by James Marsters, who plays Spike on the “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” TV series), and really enjoyed them.
Butcher has a distinct voice in the books which also really came through at his author event – the Q&A session was very entertaining. About 500 people showed up, and the questions were quite varied. He talked a bit about his own background in martial arts, and how that played into Det. Karrin Murphy practicing aikido in the books. He also talked about his writing process, how he uses strong outlines, and never feels like he backs Dresden into irretrievable corners, because that’s the opportunity to do something really creative and interesting. Based on the three books I’ve listened to, I’d say he’s succeeded at that!
I saw only a couple of cosplayers at the author event – one woman (not sure who she was dressed as – it wasn’t Det. Murphy) and one pretty spot-on Dresden. If you’re looking to cosplay as Dresden, you might be interested in this shield bracelet project (pictured above) by SilverMoon Dragon. I love the layered look with the cloth strips, chain and coins.
