Captain Malcolm Reynolds: Man or Mouse?!

Have you ever seen something so cute you’ve actually squealed out loud? Of course you have; you’re a Geek Crafts reader. But seriously, I’ve just had the biggest cute-fest in weeks browsing through Quernus Crafts’ photostream over on Flickr, after seeing this incredibly wonderful mini sculpture:

Captain Mal Reynolds Mouse

It’s Mal Reynolds! From Firefly! But he’s a mouse!

I was a HUGE fan of Firefly (why, Fox, whyyy?) so was instantly drawn to this precious piece of polymer clay. But then I looked through some of the other things that Kirsten has made and found there was a goldmine of beautifully crafted figurines, and something for any type of geek. Harry Potter geeks, Terry Pratchett geeks, Comic Book geeks, Torchwood geeks, Hobbit geeks, Manga geeks, Dr Who geeks, Science geeks, Star Wars geeks, or just a geek who likes cute things.

Check out the Quernus Crafts website too, where you can shop or even commission your own Quernus creation. I am now deleting all my Quernus bookmarks though, because I’m scared I’ll just go and buy everything.

Needlefelted Spock

Needlefelted Spock

Everyone’s favorite Vulcan celebrated his 82nd birthday today! Or rather, Leonard Nimoy, the man behind the Vulcan did. Happy birthday Mr. Nimoy, and of course, live long and prosper. And that’s from the very handsome “Li’l Spock” as well! And the person who created Li’l Spock? Kay Petal, of Felt Alive. She’s a needle felting artist who creates the most amazing sculptural dolls. Be prepared to be blown away.

Daryl Dixon, The Walking Dead Plush

cdaryl1If you’re a fan of “The Walking Dead,” you can have your favorite character but you can’t deny the popularity of Daryl Dixon, as portrayed by Norman Reedus. And that popularity just continues to grow, especially with SpeakGeekandEnter from Craftster making a plushie of our favorite little archer.

And that poncho is even custom made, “The poncho was made by recreating the poncho pattern in photoshop and then printing it on inkjet printable cotton. It closes with snaps on the back…” He’s got a tiny little black leather vest underneath.”…this time in his poncho, red button up shirt, leather vest (of course Wink) and brown pants! plushies one of a kind in terms of costumes, so I think this is going to be the last one until they give him something different to wear next season.  Cheesy ….Y’know, if he makes it to next season. *fingers crossed*”

As far as other Craftster projects go, SpeakGeekandEnter has used a similar plushie pattern to make a doll of David Tennant as the Doctor. SGAE also runs the Etsy shop of the same name.

My Little Pony: Dr. Whooves

243900_23Mar13_DSC02351

Craftster user dfabbric made a cute MLP as the pony-fication (is that even a word?) of Tom Baker, the fourth actor to portray the Doctor.

“I’m really happy with how he turned out, though he looks a little angry. The pattern is by Valleyviolet. I hand knit his scarf and it’s removable.” dfabbric also has a blog, where she’s known as Diane, out of Alberta, Calgary.

Valleyviolet owns Violet’s Curious Miscellany over at Etsy, where the pony patterns range anywhere from $15-$45. And just in case a plush pony isn’t enough for you, check out the “Pony Creator” by General Zoi at Deviant Art.

Sheldon Cooper Amigurumi Pattern

Bazinga!

It’s your favourite physics geek, Sheldon Cooper, made into this adorable crochet doll by Jackie on A[mi]dorable Crochet! And there’s a free pattern for him! Squee!

AND… he’s even approved by none other than Jim Parsons, the actor who plays Sheldon in the Big Bang Theory!

There is also a Howard Wallowitz doll made by the same person! There’s no pattern, though, but I’m pretty sure the doll is the same as the Sheldon doll with different clothes/accessories! Hopefully she’ll soon make the whole BBT gang!
