Crochet BMO Scarf

close-up-of-bmo-scarf

Rose Henderson actually wrote this crochet pattern in 2014, but since the southeast part of the United States is finally starting to get chilly, I thought it was time to share this.

Rose said her 9 year old asked if she could make him a scarf that no–one else had at school. They compiled a list of his favorite TV programs, had a look around to see what was available in local stores and whittled the list down to BMO from Adventure Time. Thoughtfully, Rose posted her entire tutorial on this scarf on her blog, and even included a PDF of the pieces of BMO’s face, to trace onto felt.

Amazingly enough, this was Rose’s first crochet tutorial and it’s very clear and concise.

It’s Dangerous To Go Alone

164265_28sep16_image

Whew, it’s nice having electricity again, now that Hurricane Matthew is gone! My entirely dark neighborhood made me think of this quote: “It’s dangerous to go alone. Take this!” Unfortunately, we didn’t have Link to guide us.

Meleriffic, of Texas, recently made this Link cross stitched project for her husband for his birthday. The pattern is from StitchLine on Etsy. When she saw it, she knew it was perfect. Her husband loves The Legend of Zelda video game series and often quotes, “It’s dangerous to go alone. Take this.”

Meleriffic been working on it off and on since May, and just finished this a week ago.

A Modded Fallout 4 Bobblehead

fallout mod

An Imgur user recently uploaded some pictures of the Fallout bobblehead he just modified. He gave his little friend some extras to make him look more…’traveled,’because they have seen their fair share of the Commonwealth together and the bobblehead needed to look the part.

Upgrades were added using Worbla, modeling putty, resin, paintbrush bristles, and a few other bits and pieces. The poster also added a laser rifle from an unnamed POP vinyl figurine.

For anyone interested in weathering their own Fallout bobblehead, Amazon has a good base to start from, available here, for $59.99, for Prime shipping.

Level up with a GamerGhan!

GamerGhan by Alicia1018

I’ve featured some geektastic afghans here on GeekCrafts, such as Lattes & Llamas Geek-a-Longs (2014 and 2015), as well as a Settlers of Catan blanket. On Ravelry recently I stumbled across this beauty by Alicia1018, which she aptly calls her GamerGhan.

Twenty-five crochet squares pay homage to a variety of video games, including Tetris, Minecraft, Angry Birds, Harvest Moon, Pac-Man, World of Warcraft, and Oblivion. Alicia very kindly uploaded patterns for all of the squares – you can find them linked in her Ravelry project post.

What video games would you include in blanket form? Let us know in the comments below!

Papercraft Minecraft Torch – Pin of the Week

minecraft torch papercraft

I really like the idea of this DIY Minecraft torch. It looks super easy to make, not too expensive, and it would look great to have them dotted around the place for a Minecraft themed party, or even just as part of your everyday décor! There are full instructions of how to make your own papercraft torch, as well as a template to print your own. Happy Mining! :)

Edited to add the original source of the pictures here and the design here.

Pokémon Amigurumi – Pin of the Week

cyndaquil ami

I actually came across Wolfdreamer‘s crochet patterns a few years ago, and I think they’re fantastic. This gorgeous Cyndaquil just popped up on my pinterest and I had to share it, as well as her other patterns, with you all. She not only has dozens of free Pokémon crochet patterns, she also has patterns for Sonic the Hedgehog, Mario Bros, and lots of other wonderful characters to crochet. Thank you, Wolfdreamer, you’re awesome!
