I mentioned in a recent post that my daughter is very in to Gir these days. She’s also very in to the video game Portal – Portal 2 to be specific. If she sees any expanse of flat white wall, she remarks, “that would be a good place for a portal.” Very observant and strategic, my last-born.
So again, in honor of her, I bring you another Halloween costume idea. Via GeeksAreSexy.net, here’s an interesting manga/anime-esque interpretation of GLaDOS.
Per Wikipedia, GLaDOS is “short for Genetic Lifeform and Disk Operating System, a fictional artificially intelligent computer system in Valve Software’s Half-Life video game series and the main antagonist in the video games Portal and Portal 2...She is responsible for testing and maintenance in Aperture Science research facility in both video games.” Some call her “a narcissist, passive-aggressive, sinister, and witty. She has been considered one of the greatest video game characters ever created, particularly from 2000 to 2009.” “A number of websites and magazines listed her as one of the greatest video game villains including IGN, which ranked her the all-time greatest.”
Here’s what GLaDOS really looks like in the game, as well as a shot of the voice actress Ellen McLain. (via ThePlayVault.com).

I play a lot of video games, but in my youth I was hard into comic books. My favorites were always Marvel comics, though Batman was cool too. Lately I have been combining these two aspects of my life with Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds for the Xbox 360. So it was with this inspiration that I went searching for my all time favorite comic book character, Deadpool, on Etsy.
It was on SherryKCreations shop page that I found these wonderful Hair Bows. They aren’t exclusively Marvel Comics, but I can forgive that.
BAM! Go check out the Hair Bows!
In celebration of the release of Minecraft Beta v1.8 yesterday, here is a wonderful Creeper necklace by milkool on Etsy. If you type “creeper” into the search box on Etsy, you will find tons of stuff. So much stuff in fact, that it’s hard to sift through it all to find the real gems.
This isn’t the first time milkool has been featured on Geekcrafts. A pair of her creeper necklaces were featured in a post back in july. Her shop is full of awesome adornments for the geek in your life, and her crafts are always awesome.
