Crochet BMO Scarf

close-up-of-bmo-scarf

Rose Henderson actually wrote this crochet pattern in 2014, but since the southeast part of the United States is finally starting to get chilly, I thought it was time to share this.

Rose said her 9 year old asked if she could make him a scarf that no–one else had at school. They compiled a list of his favorite TV programs, had a look around to see what was available in local stores and whittled the list down to BMO from Adventure Time. Thoughtfully, Rose posted her entire tutorial on this scarf on her blog, and even included a PDF of the pieces of BMO’s face, to trace onto felt.

Amazingly enough, this was Rose’s first crochet tutorial and it’s very clear and concise.

Crocheted Hobbes Scarf

bxqWjs8

Jillianjiggs posted on Imgur, this crocheted pelt-like scarf of everyone’s favorite comic strip tiger, Hobbes! Because as she puts it, what better way to fight off a Canadian winter with a friend?

But luckily for anyone that doesn’t have a scarf, Jillianjiggs owns LoopTeeLoops, an Etsy shop based out of Ontario. If you can’t figure out the pattern for Hobbes here by studying the picture, you can buy her pattern for just $9.

Agents of Shield: Alien Script Scarf

ConcertiGrossi_alienglyph

Agents of Shield, is the show that kept slowly worming its way into my heart, and now I’m glad I stuck with it. And speaking of worming its way, Coulson has been having some issues with some Alien writing for some time now. He finally has some answers, and we have a pattern for a scarf to wear.

ConcertiGrossi over on Tumblr created the  charts so you can have your own alien script without having to visit Tahiti, I hear it’s a magical place. It is a double knit scarf, which means you work both sides at the same time and end up with a mirror image of what you are working on.

Pattern: Bat’leth Scarf

If you looked at that title and shook your head, you need more crafty Klingon’s in your life.  Over at The Giving Flower a design for a Bat’leth scarf is up for any enterprising knitter.

k_gintar_batleth

As the designer describes:  “Feeling a bit agressive? Need to let your inner Klingon free? Then this is just the scarf for you. It can be used in battle or just worn around your neck to keep you or your favorite Klingon warrior warm. With the silk and merino content and the holes formed by the grips, it flows gently around any Klingon or non-Klingon neck and won‘t get too warm. It also can come in handy in case a Klingon battle ensues. Don‘t be caught empty handed this winter!”

If that’s not a call to winter  battle. We all know the colder season is approaching for some of us. And its time for it to taste defeat.

Knit: Longer on the Outside Scarf

Unless you are/were one of the lucky ones to get into a World Tour Screening we are nearly at the premiere of a new season of Doctor Who. And  we know how I feel about having fitting crafts for the times right? So why not a re-imaging of the fourth doctor’s scarf with some illusion knitting to go with it.  Designer, Franklin Habit, has done just that.

Illusion/Shadow knitting is a technique, where using two colors and the basic knit stitches of Knit & Purl (seriously everything is built on those two guys). You use two colors and alternating your knit and purl stitches in pattern to create an image that is only visible at certain angles.  A fun way to have a surprise picture appear.  You can  see this effect in the scarf photo.

I’ve always been torn about making myself a 4th doctor scarf, but this? This will have to happen.  Head over to Raverly to purchase you own copy.
