Come to the Dark Side, O Christmas Tree

Death Star Tree Topper

With Christmas just days away, my brain is still in decorate mode. And believe me, if we didn’t already have a pretty star for the top of our tree, I would be madly scrambling to whip this Death Star Tree Topper together for our celebration.

Meg at Offbeat Home has graciously provided a tutorial for said tree topper, so you can add a bit of the Dark Side to your tree as well. Looks like a quick and easy project!

May the Force be with your Christmas!

Voom, Voom, Boing!

So say you have kids who love playing Star Wars, but you don’t want them to hurt themselves with whatever approximation of lightsabers they’ll create. Alternately, you might have fully grown friends or relatives who still like playing Star Wars, but, again, you still don’t want them to hurt themselves. Enter the pool noodle lightsaber. With nothing but pool noodles, a serrated knife, and three kinds of electrical/duct tape, Muddy Boots blogger Amy created safe-but-cool-as-hell lightsabers for her son and his birthday guests, then posted the handy-dandy tutorial so we can do the same. Additional photos and tutorials can be found around the interwebs, if Amy’s post isn’t enough for you.

Tutorial Tuesday: TARDIS Bookcase!

Check out this awesome bookcase tutorial from Alantronics!

It’s actually mind blowingly simple to do, make one for you little boy/girl’s room to promote literacy (or for me, make a full sized one for the Husb0t to store all his Dr Who DVD’s in… )

You could even be really clever and add a door for the full ‘TARDIS effect…

Tutorial Tuesday: LED Boo Wall Art

This super cool Light-up Boo rocks my world!

But the question is, would you be too scared to have it in your bedroom?! … haha, don’t turn away… DON’T BLINK! BLINK AND YOU’RE DEAD!!

If you’re made of sterner stuff than me and aren’t easily scared by MDF shapes, you can make your own light up Boo by following Ynze’s tutorial on Instructables.

Via SewMamaSew’s Pinterest Board

How’s this for an awesome party idea, and whats more, it’s completely reusable so geeky kiddies of  all ages can relive their happy day as ‘Iron Man’ all through the year :-)

Cutesy Crafts designed these Superhero party masks and posted the tutorial and free printable templates on her blog!!

But these needn’t just be for kids parties, how awesome would they be at a music festival? a pub crawl? a superhero masked ball?!?! (yea? mind… blown!)

Tutorial Tuesday: Avengers Bookmarks!

It’s SUMMER! which means 2 things, big movies in the cinema and little children off school!

Why not keep your boys and girls (nieces, cousins, little brothers?) occupied for a few hours making Crafts by Amanda’s super cute Avengers bookmarks out of lollipop sticks!

I like this craft specifically for the fact that (a) you have to eat a lot of popsicles first and (b) you get to read books after!
