This Bender Furnace Wants You to Bite His Shiny Metal… You Know

Futurama’s Bender, our booze pounding robot of the future, is ready to keep you warm and potentially cook your meat.

This wood stove called the “Bender Bending Rodriguez” was made by UK’s Rob Halftroll, and it was made of, “”5 gas bottles, 5kg of welding wire, 90 litres of CO2, various bits of steel mostly 1.2mm sheet, plenty of plasters and copious amounts of alcohol this is what I ended up with.”

If you check out Halftroll’s YouTube channel, you can see the Bender oven in action, in all it’s burning glory.

TARDIS sewing box

tardis sewing box2tardis sewing box

I absolutely adore this wibbly wobbly TARDIS sewing box!! Joesuplicki on Craftster made this amazing sewing box from scratch! What a fantastic idea! I would love to have a suitably geeky sewing box for all my geeky crafts! I love the attention to detail, down to the character pins and the details inside the TARDIS (it’s bigger on the inside!). I wish I had the skills to make one of these!

Winter is Coming: You’ll Need Mittens

Specifically the Game of  Throne s House Mitt Kits.  Be you, Stag, Lion, Wolf, Kracken, Flower, or Dragon. There is a mitt kit for you.  These kits sold by The Yarn Cafe  make it so you can knit up your own favorite house to keep the chill away. The kit includes the pattern for the house of your choice and enough yarn to make the gloves in the size of your choice.

And as they don’t have thumbs I think they would do quite well for keeping that spring and fall chill at bay before we whip out the big guns.  So grab your needles and wait for the shipment to arrive and get knitting. Possibly as you watch Season 3.  And perhaps visit the designer Anna Richardson/ One Hand Knits on Ravelry, where she has other patterns, and a few other geeky nods.

Cthulhu Mittens

Cthulhu MittensIf your Winter wasn’t quite creepy enough, or all that snow has driven you to madness, perhaps you should reflect it, with a pair of these fabulously tentacled Cthulhu mittens! This pair was knitted by knittitude as part of Nerd Wars on Ravelry and made it to the finals of the best in round two.

This free pattern was written by Diana Stafford (you may remember we shared her One Ring scarf pattern earlier this year) – truly a great, all-round, geeky knitter!
