Humble Indie Bundle V

humble indie bundle v

Humble Indie Bundle V (pay what you want and choose where the money goes) is out and includes an incredible assortment of DRM-free, award-winning, cross-platform games like Psychonauts, Limbo, Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP and Amnesia: The Dark Descent, as well as the soundtracks for each game. If that’s not enough to entice you, pay more than the average (currently $8.17 as I write this) and get Bastion, Lone Survivor, Braid, and Super Meat Boy.

This is an incredible deal and if you haven’t bought it yet, you’ll kick yourself later. Go now (valid for only six more days) and buy some games, support indie developers, and donate some money to charity. Below is the Humble Indie Bundle V trailer to further entice you. I bought mine last week and do not regret it one bit.

Game of Thrones Cookbook

I don’t know about you, but I love having friends over and cooking up something delicious… I just do.  I discovered that some of my husband’s co-workers are big Game of Thrones fans (as am I), so I invited them over and scoured the internet for Game of Thrones inspired recipes. I came across this website, Inn at the Crossroads, that has loads of recipes all based on foods mentioned in the actual book series (i.e. lemon cakes, Sansa salad, beef and barley stew).  They recently published the official Game of Thrones cookbook, A Feast of Ice & Fire.   I don’t have it yet, but I kind of want it because who doesn’t like to eat some medieval-inspired grub every now and then?

Space invaders cuff links

space invaders cufflinks

Do you have an old-school geeky dad in your life?  With father’s day right around the corner, Virginie Millefior might have something up his alley. These little aliens are “sawn-off from a sheet of brass, molded and cast into brass to create two identical space invaders cufflinks.”

If you are an aficionado of old video games, but have no need to link cuffs, fear not! Ms. Millefior also has necklaces, rings, and other trinkets that pay homage to our favorite games of the late 70s/early 80s.

Game of Thrones Leather Journals

game of thrones leather journals

With the second season of Game of Thrones wrapping up, I thought it would be appropriate to share these gorgeous Game of Thrones leather journals by TaeliacStudio.

My husband and I watched the first season last year, but got rid of cable earlier this year, so we’re waiting for the second season to come out on DVD. (Please – no spoilers!) Based on the first season, I’d say my favorite house is Stark, followed closely by Targaryen, if only for the strong character of Daenerys. Though of the journals above, I think I like the Lannister one the best – it reads, “Hear Me Roar” on the cover.

And you? Which house has your loyalty? Or which journal would you pick?

Rubik’s Cube Tissue Box Cover

Rubik's Cube Tissue Box CoverThe Rubik’s Cube is a 3-D mechanical puzzle invented by Hungarian sculptor and professor of architecture Ern? Rubik.  It has delighted millions of people for probably like a billion years.  OK, it has fascinated thousands of people for maybe around 100 years.  OK.  Fine!  Geeks have had one on their bookshelf or desk, and for the most part been unable to solve them, and they have only been around since 1974.

Now you can show your geek pride, and stop correcting me so much, with this awesome Rubik’s Cube Tissue Box Cover by HeSewMadeThat on Etsy.
