Is there a Doctor in the Tardis?

Is there a Doctor in the Tardis?Yes, there is and not just one but eleven Doctors.

Pixelated Mushroom, who describes herself as a “Librarian based in Australia who likes to knit, crochet, juggle and firetwirl (but not all at once)”, has completed crochet patterns for mini versions of all eleven regenerations of Doctor Who as well the Tardis.  She’s compiled them into a wonderful PDF Collection that you can download here.

Let the Games Begin…

Let the Games Begin... And with the opening of the new Hunger Games movie, based on the book, of the same name, they have. I may be one of the few people left who have not read the books yet but I recognize the symbols from it after all the publicity surrounding it.

I also recognize hand crafting talent and these pieces definitely fall in that category. A stenciled shirt and polymer pins bearing the Mockingjay symbol hat people have come to know from this series. The work of Miss K, daughter of PJCrafty, her mother who is very talented as well, the pins and shirt are just a few of the fandom items she has created in the past couple of years.

I do believe, the odds will always be in her favor with this kind of crafty talent.

Book Time!

You know what I don’t ever take time for? Paper books. When I do sit down to read, lately, it’s either webby stuff or library articles on my ereader. While doing things around the house, I enjoy listening to audiobooks (by the way: thanks, Liz, for suggesting The Parasol Protectorate! fun characters, fun story, great voice actress!). And, I mean, audiobooks are definitely “real books.” As are ebooks(!). But you can’t do anything crafty with them.

Also, yeah, very funny, right? The librarian who doesn’t touch books. But I don’t: I’m really not that kind of librarian. (You’d be surprised how little books have to do with most librarians’ jobs.)

I do think I could find the time to hold a book for this project, though! It’s very pretty!

Lucky and Lovable

I’m not sure if The Neverending Story is truly geeky or just beloved by children of the ’80s, but dragons are inherently a bit geeky, no? At least that’s my reasoning behind sharing this Falcor [sic] the Luck Dragon necklace. Also: It’s flat-out adorable. As are some of the other goodies in Rude & Reckless’ Etsy shop—this Monocled Octopus Necklace is particularly enchanting.

Accessories Sold Separately

As promised, I come bearing geekiness as gleaned from Mr X Stitch at the Stitch and Craft show…

I am, frankly amazed (and a little appalled) at myself for never having come across Lord Libidan before. His work is amazing – generally centered around video games, and packed full of original, interesting ideas.

The Transformers, sewn onto plastic canvas, actually transform. Oh yes. There’s Jetfire &  Optimus Prime (as seen here) who of course become a plane and a truck respectively – and also a couple of tapes; Ratbat & Laserbeak, which will fit into the soon-to-come Soundwave/tapedesk. I love that they are based on the original toys, not the new versions – tres retro chic. And (this is the best bit) all of the patterns are all available from his Etsy Shop. Huzzah!

This Pokemon image is stitched stereoscopically – so if you put on red & blue 3D glasses (great fashion choice, btw) it pops out at you. Excuse me while I cry at the awesomeness.

This manbroiderer may not really be a lord, but I agree with him; he should be.
