Last week Kansas City was one of the select cities to host The Ultimate Marvel Marathon in AMC theaters. We took a “family day” to enjoy and revel in the geekiness. It was advertised as “one epic day” – it did not disappoint.
In less than a week, I’ll be one of those crazy people waiting in line for the midnight release of the much anticipated movie “The Avengers”. To get myself in the mood to enjoy this awesome movie, I decide to search through Etsy for some awesome Avengers inspired crafts.

Who wouldn’t want to host a marathoning party of the pre-Avengers movies, when you had these glasses to hold your guests beverages in? They’re pretty awesome!

As someone who obsessed with buttons, these buttons are adorable and geeky in the best possible way.

Nerdifacts makes adorably geeky wristies inspired by superheroes, including The Avengers. Midnight showings can be cold, these should keep you warm.

When I first started searching for Avengers stuff, her stuff was popping up all over the place. Once I got to her shop, I was overcome with all sorts of nerd feelings. She has bows, earrings, tie clips, necklaces, and bracelets. All the having the perfect amount of nerdiness.
What’s better than meeting Stan Lee? How about meeting two of of one of the greatest creators in comic book history? Photographer Chris Dorsey was there last weekend to capture the magic as cosplayer “Agent Stan” met his real life counterpart, Stan “The Man” Lee at Planet Comicon in Kansas City. Surrounded by the IBOTs (Iron Brothers of Topeka, KS), Dorsey documented all the fun, including some incredible cosplay all weekend at the convention. I don’t know a mom out there that doesn’t like organizational tools. I’ve been seeing really fun geek-themed terrariums on Pinterest lately, but not a lot of detailed how-to’s. Though it’s pretty easy to make a terrarium, it turns out you don’t just want to throw some sand and rocks in a jar and decorate with air plants, moss, and a few minis. That is, if you want your plants to actually thrive any way. So I tracked down a few generic terrarium making tutorials, including the great image above from the blog Something Turquoise. Another blog, Food 52, has great step-by-step instructions on making a terrarium as well. Once you’ve got those basics down, you can decorate your terrarium with any fandom you like. And there are tons of ideas out there. Here are a FEW of my personal favorites!
