Tutorial Tuesday: Superhero Party Masks!

Via SewMamaSew’s Pinterest Board

How’s this for an awesome party idea, and whats more, it’s completely reusable so geeky kiddies of  all ages can relive their happy day as ‘Iron Man’ all through the year :-)

Cutesy Crafts designed these Superhero party masks and posted the tutorial and free printable templates on her blog!!

But these needn’t just be for kids parties, how awesome would they be at a music festival? a pub crawl? a superhero masked ball?!?! (yea? mind… blown!)

Tutorial Tuesday: Piranha Plant Party Bowls!

There are all sorts of rumours about backstage parties at rock concerts, where debauched millionaires would be served illegal substances off of naked ladies’ stomachs … but when I’m a millionaire I want candy… served from a Piranha Plant!

Luckily Cute as a Fox has a fantastic tutorial to enable my minions to make them for me! … THAT was lucky…

Seriously though, imagine having these at a wedding reception? how hard would that rock!?

A Truly Super (Mario) Party

piranha plant Handmade piranha plants? Stompable balloon Goombas? A DIY chain chomp piñata? Homemade mushroom cupcakes? This has got to be the best Super Mario-themed birthday party ever! I hope this kid appreciated it—it was only his fourth birthday. I’d be pretty psyched if someone threw me a party that awesome now, and I’m 31.

Party like it’s x = [(2^3) + 80(5^2) + (36/9)]

Now that the warm, innocent glow of Christmas is behind us, it is time to look forward to the biggest party night of the year. If you are looking for a way to serve your guests fermented debauchery in a manner befitting a cultivated, tasteful geek, look no further than the laser-etched glassware over on Non Scientific Labware. Pour in the bubbly and toast your lab partners: “May all your reactions be positive, your equations be balanced, and all of your frictions of 2011 dissipate in the new year.”

The shop has a glass type suitable to your preferred poison: champagne, wine, tumblers,  shot glasses, and even a set of test tubes that were featured in the June trend-spotting section of  Food & Wine Magazine.

Have a fun, safe New Year’s Eve everyone.!

Star Wars Day birthday party – planned in under 6 hours!

I’ve bookmarked this May the Fourth birthday party post by Annalea Hart on Offbeat Mama for the near future – the simple but awesome Star Wars party she planned and pulled off the same day for her 6-year-old son Luca is super inspiring! Yoda sodas, ice-cream sandwiches, movie-night popcorn, and easy decorations… the force is strong with this one.
