Crochet Portal Blanket

Portal BlanketRaise your hand if you’re thrilled about the release of Portal 2 this past week!

What are you doing, raising your hand? If you were really that excited, you’d have both hands firmly glued to your controller right now. You totally don’t love Portal enough. You’ve made GLaDOS very sad.

At least, you don’t love Portal the way Doctor Moo does.  She showed her devotion by stitching up an amazing crochet blanket featuring the morbidly hilarious warning signs from the original Portal.  What have you done for GLaDOS lately, hmm? (Okay, I stop with the guilt-tripping now. I haven’t even finished the first game!)

It took her over 74 hours to crochet and measures a whopping nine feet by six feet (more than big enough to snuggle under with a Companion Cube). She’s offered it for sale on her Etsy shop, which also features some other wonderfully geeky crochet creations.

A Stitch In Time…Lord

Allons-y! Craftster user pickled_peppers made this 1/3 scale model amigurumi of the tenth Doctor— complete with red converse and double hearts (his hair is perfect too)!  Ten is my Doctor, so I really love this.  There are more pictures in her post (including one “with” the Doctor). She’s working on a pattern, for those of use who want their very own huggable David Tennant.

“Geek” Text Necklace

Geek text necklaceBecause your limited edition Star Wars t-shirt, Legend of Zelda backpack, and Dr. Who socks don’t announce it loudly enough. You want people to know without a doubt that you’re a GEEK, and damn proud of it.

If you’re ready to literally label yourself, check out these comic-book-esque “Geek” text necklaces made by Israeli artist, Ran.

Offered through his Etsy store, Milkool, Ran also has plenty of other font-tastic (sorry, I couldn’t help it), laser-cut necklaces for those who prefer other labels, such as “Nerd,” or “Dork.”

“One for the money, two for the show, three to make ready, and four to GEROOOOONIMOOOOOOOO!!”

Every single time (and thankfully, Moffat & Co. didn’t use it as much as I had first feared) I hear Eleven say, “Geronimo!”, I remember that tidbit from Daffy Duck…oh, and: Hello, I’m Krys. Someday soon I will get a proper bio posted to the site. In the meanwhile you just need to know that I’m a geeky gal who will be posting here at Geek Crafts as I find things that make my inner fangirl go ‘squeeee!’

TARDIS MAME Console

The phrase “It all started with Linux” and a picture of Charles Bronson occur with in the first few paragraphs of Simon Jansen‘s thorough, rambling, and completely freaking awesome how-to post about his TARDIS MAME Console.  It’s one thing to build your own TARDIS, it’s a wholly different thing to build your own TARDIS, then construct a custom made MAME console to fit inside (the picture on the left is the TARDIS, closed. On the right, we see it open, with the console on). This might be the geekiest thing I’ve ever posted, a real trifecta of geekgasm worthy art.
