Yeti Amigurumi Pattern

yetiamigurumi

Hot, summer days are nearly upon us, but that doesn’t mean we have to solely embrace swimsuits and suntan lotion.  We can hold onto that last little bit of winter. . .by making a cuddly, cute yeti friend.

I wrote this pattern because I saw plenty of adorable yeti patterns online and yet not a single one of them represented what I like most in my amigurumi: little, bitty bodies and very large heads.  Here’s a yeti pattern that embraces both of those things, and I think it’s pretty cute for such a ferocious beastie.

Sheldon Cooper Amigurumi Pattern

sheldon cooper amigurumi

Bazinga!

It’s your favourite physics geek, Sheldon Cooper, made into this adorable crochet doll by Jackie on A[mi]dorable Crochet! And there’s a free pattern for him! Squee!

AND… he’s even approved by none other than Jim Parsons, the actor who plays Sheldon in the Big Bang Theory!

There is also a Howard Wallowitz doll made by the same person! There’s no pattern, though, but I’m pretty sure the doll is the same as the Sheldon doll with different clothes/accessories! Hopefully she’ll soon make the whole BBT gang!

Star Wars Crochet Ships: Amigurumi Patterns

I’m mystified by people who can crochet good amigurumis, doubly mystified by those who can compose their own patterns (what are you, a wizard or something) and triply impressed by those who then have the patience to record and write those patterns down.  So what I’ve got for you today is just all POWPOWPOW.

MysteriousCats sells various amigurumi patterns via their Etsy shop so that if you are the sort of person who prefers to spend time on that first POW, M’Cats has you covered on the later two. Star Wars Patterns

D&D Monster Man, and D12 Dice Bag pattern

While clicking around on StumbleUpon, my son recently stumbled upon this little beauty – a wonderfully entertaining 4-1/2 minute video of Brad Knight, the self-proclaimed D&D Monster Man. He does impressions of what he imagines Dungeons & Dragons monsters sound like. I certainly can’t refute him.

While imaginative, his impression talent is not very crafty, so I dug up a D&D-inspired craft to share, complete with tutorial: the d12 Handbag (of Holding) from Evil Mad Scientist Labs.

Perfect for an impromptu RPG session, or a night on the town, this DIY dodecahedron will make you the envy of geeks and fashionistas alike.

Futurama Crochet Doll Patterns!

Okay, okay.  As 2012 breathes down our neck and we think about the future, what better to get you feeling cozy about it then some Futurama dolls?

Admittedly, I’m not linking to anyone but myself  (Hooked Hands) today, but I used to sell these Nibbler and Leela dolls on Etsy, and the powers that be (the lawyers representing Futurama) told me and everyone else on Etsy to stop selling Futurama inspired crafts.  They cannot however keep me from giving away those patterns to you!  I wrote them up and put them on my blog, so I decided to share them here. Happy New Year everyone!
