Battlestar Galactica T-Shirt
Beware Cylons. Craftster user Bunny in a Bear made this Battlestar Galactica logo t-shirt. He ironed on freezer paper as a stencil. This method has been making the Internet rounds for the past year or so. Freezer paper stencils are like single-use silk screens.

Hand-screenprinted Space Invaders T-shirt
This is one geek craft that I actually made myself. I used a $40 screenprinting set I bought at Michael’s to do it. It has 3 invaders on the front right and a single invader on the back in the top middle next to the neck line. I did only one pass with white ink on a black tee and it looks kind of greyish – just like the original B&W Space Invaders arcade game.
I ended up doing about 10 shirts in various ink/shirt color combinations but none looked as good as the black and white. For the invaders, I simply used MAME and took a screenshot of Space Invaders and I enlarged it on-screen to the right size then I printed it out onto transparency paper and used that to make the screen.
It was my first attempt at screenprinting and it really did turn out great. It’s one of my favorites tees – all the better cause I made it myself.

Mom Makes American Boy Doll for 6-Year-Old Son
When Gina DeMillo Wagner’s 6-year-old son began asking for an American Boy doll last year, she went to great lengths – at a low cost (less than $50!) – to give her boy the doll of his dreams. Currently, the company that makes the American Girl dolls does not make a boy version of the toy. The doll she started with is actually a Madame Alexander brand doll.
And it wasn’t just any doll he was after – Miles wanted one that looked just like him since his older sister had an American Girl doll that looked just like her.
Wagner was inspired to take on the DIY project after a friend jokingly suggested she “get a girl doll and give it a haircut.” One swift makeunder later (she gave the doll a haircut, used acetone to remove the doll’s lipstick and blush, and trimmed the eyelashes), and Miles had his perfect doll, which he decided to name Fred Jones, possibly better known as Freddy from Scooby Doo. His sister named her doll Daphne.
As for whether her crafty endeavor has inspired her to take on more DIY toy projects in the future, Wagner says, “I don’t have any specific plans right now, but I did download some sewing patterns for 18-inch dolls, so if we want to make Fred some new T-shirts, we might do that!”

Optimus Prime + The TARDIS = Awesome.
I love Transformers. I love Doctor Who. So, what’s not to love about a 3-D printed, actual working/transforming Tardimus Prime??!! Seriously. What’s not to love? Inspired by Jason Casteel’s TARDIS Prime artwork, user Ellindsey designed and created this 3-D printed realization, and it actually transforms. What’s even cooler is you can find Ellindsey’s CAD files and instructions for building your own. Oh, for a 3-D printer.
