Let’s start on Halloween 2013
…but if you’ve got a baby in your future and an itch to knit…you can have a little knit Link in time for Halloween 2013. There is a free pattern on Ravelry, so what are you waiting for?

Why would you want to do that? Well, how about when the nightmare is a huggable version of Jack Skellington from the Nightmare Before Christmas? Jack is crocheted in not-so-living black and white acrylic yarn. The free pattern is the creation of April Folts of April Draven Designs. When completed, Jack measures about fifteen inches tall and is worked in single crochet throughout.
Now you can not only be hooked on Sherlock but you can hook him as well! Justine Meunier, or Retsnimel as she is known on Ravelry, has created a free pattern for an amigurumi BBC Sherlock Holmes. From his curly hair to his coat, you can see the character as his mind works through the details of his latest case. Quite accurate, right down to his blue scarf and purple shirt.
Of course, Sherlock must have his companion and Justine has provided a free pattern for Doctor John Watson as well.
And the cube is not companionless once you crochet this mini weighted cube and Chell! Chell even has her own Portal Device too. Designed by Nerdigurumi, the pattern is free. It uses various colors of worsted weight yarns and some wire for Chell to allow her to be posable. Nerdigurumi warns that this pattern is a bit more than beginner as it requires some ‘cobbling and fiddling’ to assemble.
It’s a hat! Yes, Nimcraft has created a free pattern for a knitted Portal Cake Hat that is absolutely adorkable. This hat, a recreation of the chocolate cake in Portal 1 and 2, is also a quite delectable head warmer during cold months. Knitted in worsted weight yarn, Nimcraft gives suggestions for making it in other weight yarns as well. Not familiar or a fan of the game portal? That’s okay, I don’t think there’s too many people that don’t like chocolate cake anyway!
… or at least keep the boiled eggs warm! These hand crafted Dalek Egg Cozies are just right for the job. Created by Lyles Knit, free patterns are available for either a knitted circular. Don’t feel left out, crocheters because there is a crocheted pattern available that was designed by Alienfish. For those who prefer knitting flat, Lyles Knit also provides a pattern for that version as well by Anne.
Whichever version you choose to make, I doubt anyone will mess with your eggs when a Dalek is watching over it!
Not much of an egg eater? Just crochet or knit a small circular piece for the bottom, stuff and you have an amigurumi version of a dalek!
