Star Wars Tumblers

Star Wars Tumblers

I’m always looking for the perfect gift for soon-to-be married geek couples or that awesome friend who seems to have everything already.  I know I’ve mentioned geekily functional items already — well, that is most definitely applicable when it comes to geek gift giving, as well.

The fine folks over at coryativ Etched Glassware have created three adorable 10 oz tumblers (a fancy name for a flat-bottomed drinking glass with no handle) with Star Wars designs etched onto the glass.  You can choose from Rebel Alliance, Insignia of the Galactic Empire, and New Jedi Order Symbol.  One tumbler is $10.00, or you can buy 2 for $18.00.

Head over to their website and check out their other designs, as well.  Better yet, think about what custom geeky glassware you’d like to give as a gift or use in your home, since they also love doing custom work.

Star Wars Crochet Ships: Amigurumi Patterns

I’m mystified by people who can crochet good amigurumis, doubly mystified by those who can compose their own patterns (what are you, a wizard or something) and triply impressed by those who then have the patience to record and write those patterns down.  So what I’ve got for you today is just all POWPOWPOW.

MysteriousCats sells various amigurumi patterns via their Etsy shop so that if you are the sort of person who prefers to spend time on that first POW, M’Cats has you covered on the later two. Star Wars Patterns

Amazingly Detailed Star Wars Cross Stitch

Check. This. Out:

Star Wars Cross Stitch

This is an impressive piece of work. I’m always amazed by the time and care taken over large projects –  probably because I have only the patience to stitch emoticons and Space Invaders. This amazingly detailed work depicting Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker really shows that hard work pays off.

Check out the original post on Tumblr. The creater of this piece made the pattern themselves using www.picturecraftwork.com, uploading an image they found online. I’d love to know how many differrent colours of thread were needed!

Lego Star Wars Clock

Lego Star Wars clock

This Lego Star Wars clock Instructables project opens with the sentence, “My son made this clock in clay class when he was 4 years old.” This is parenting done right, folks.

I love the idea for using Lego base pieces so you can move the minifigs around as you choose.

HOWTO: DIY Star Wars Light Saber Lamp

diy star wars lightsaber desk lamp

I saw these Star Wars light saber lamps online recently and really wanted one for my sci-fi-themed office. Unfortunately, I couldn’t justify spending $65 on it – and even if I could, they’re not actually out yet. Every place I have looked has them sold out or not available yet. But… could I make one? I remembered a toy light saber I had seen at recently for ~$10. I saw a DIY cityscape lampshade recently online not too long ago that I could use the same concepts for the shade. My daughter has an Ikea lamp that would be perfect for this. So, I made a Star Wars lightsaber lamp for about $20. Here’s how…
