Fandom Cats

Fandom Cats

Again and again, I saw adorable, little drawings of fandom characters as cats.  There were Supernatural cats, Sherlock cats, and Avengers cats.  It didn’t take long for all those cats to go to my head.  I couldn’t help but try to recreate some of their cute cattiness myself.  Castiel Cat and Dr. Horrible Cat are the results.

I drew their plushie patterns myself and made them with fleece and felt.  I tried to use fabric glue to attach Cas’s coat.  That was a mistake.  I ended up sewing most of their pieces together, but I was able to hot glue their eyes, hair, and noses.  I’m happy with the results.  They’re the cute, cuddly, and (slightly) silly looking representations of all those adorable, Internet kitties I had prancing around in my head.

Big Daddy Nerdigurumi!

big daddy ami

A few days ago, I stumbled upon this mind-blowing Amigurumi Big Daddy from Bioshock. Isn’t he amazing?! Emjay made Big Daddy, and many other amazing amigurumis, with lots of patterns (including Big Daddy) available FREE on her website, Nerdigurumi. I might just have to attempt to make a Big Daddy for my boyfriend’s birthday, although it would probably take me about 10 years to finish, looking at how fiddly the pattern is.

My other favorite patterns on Nerdigurumi are:

Plush Zergling

Plush Zergling

I’m not much of a gamer but I did play a little bit of StarCraft once upon a time. I don’t recall the Zerg being quite this cuddly though! This cutie was created by Ange, in response to her nephew’s request for a Zergling of his very own. Ange decided to challenge herself to make one, even though she had never created a pattern for a plushie before. I think she’s succeeded beautifully! You can check out more of Ange’s clever crafts, of both the geeky and non-geeky variety, at her blog Crafty Distractions.

Daryl Dixon, The Walking Dead Plush

cdaryl1If you’re a fan of “The Walking Dead,” you can have your favorite character but you can’t deny the popularity of Daryl Dixon, as portrayed by Norman Reedus. And that popularity just continues to grow, especially with SpeakGeekandEnter from Craftster making a plushie of our favorite little archer.

And that poncho is even custom made, “The poncho was made by recreating the poncho pattern in photoshop and then printing it on inkjet printable cotton. It closes with snaps on the back…” He’s got a tiny little black leather vest underneath.”…this time in his poncho, red button up shirt, leather vest (of course Wink) and brown pants! I make all my standing

plushies one of a kind in terms of costumes, so I think this is going to be the last one until they give him something different to wear next season.  Cheesy ….Y’know, if he makes it to next season. *fingers crossed*”

As far as other Craftster projects go, SpeakGeekandEnter has used a similar plushie pattern to make a doll of David Tennant as the Doctor. SGAE also runs the Etsy shop of the same name.

Mr Drippy/Shizuku Amigurumi

mr-drippy

Check out this awesome Mr Drippy/Shizuku amigurumi plushie from Ni no Kuni made by Jastra Alethea on Kitten’s Crafts.

I must admit, I thought Mr Drippy (Lord High Lord of the Fairies), or Shizuku if you’re playing the Japanese version of the game, was an ugly little thing when I first saw him, but he’s grown on me since playing the game, and now I think he’s a very tidy little fairy, welsh accent and all! And this crochet amigurumi of him is awesome! The pattern is free so you can even make one of your own (which I intend to start any day now!) I would definitely put a little bell in the lantern, as well, so it would jangle around just like in the game!

Breaking Bad: 2 Walts and a Heisenberg

Breaking Bad is on hiatus! By this time tomorrow, I’ll know how long it will feel until the show is back on again….what cliffs I’ll be hanging off of, etc.,

To celebrate, I’m posting these 2 Walter Whites and 1 Heisenberg for your geek craft pleasure.

So these are a hoot, no? Miss Coffee has scads of these in her Deviant Art Gallery that will tickle all levels of geeky pleasure (yes, including a Carl Sagan commission! Seriously, go check it out).  This particular set was shown at Gallery 1988, which featured her plushie homage to Tobias Fumke as well.
