Han Solo Cross Stitch Pattern

Han Solo Cross Stitch Pattern

A little over two years ago, I created my first cross stitch pattern for a Craftster challenge. Naturally, it was a geeky cross stitch, immortalizing one of my favorite Star Wars quotes in floss and Aida cloth. I designed it by hand using pencil and graph paper, which took foreeeever.

Now, thanks to a free pattern-making program a fellow Craftster pointed me towards, I was able to chart my Han Solo sampler! It’s available both as a simple JPEG and as a PDF with color chart.

I have to say, the free KG-Chart software I used was pretty awesome. It was incredibly user-friendly, and included pre-programmed palettes for both DMC and Danish Flower Thread. You can export your final pattern as a jpeg, or print it out with a color chart and comments. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to make their own geeky cross stitch patterns.

The IT Crowd Cross-stitched Quote

IT Crowd Cross-stitched QuoteCross-stitched by Flickr user Cerys Davies aka chickenstitch, this quote from The IT Crowd is funny on it’s own, but even funnier for those of us geeks who have to help our friends and family with their computer problems. This would go nicely with “No, I will not fix your computer.”

Tron Inspired Cross Stitch Pattern

Tron Inspired Cross Stitch Pattern

It’s a big weekend for nerds with the movie Tron: Legacy opening in many countries around the world. Bombastitch sells lots of geeky cross stitch pieces and patterns in her Etsy shop including this most excellent Tron inspired pattern. The quote from the Master Control Program to Dillinger is sold as a PDF pattern and looks pretty easy to complete. Well, there’s a 68.71 percent chance that I’m right about that.

The Big Bang Theory Cross-stitch: Bazinga!

The Big Bang Theory Cross-stitch: BazingaHave I ever mentioned that my husband is a huge geek, yet not your typical geek? He’s obsessed with computers  but does not like sci-fi, comic books, or video games. You can all gasp in horror now. Watching The Big Bang Theory together is funny because I get all the geeky pop culture references and he gets all the actual science references. Everyone’s got their strong points, right? Anyway, I was *thrilled* to see this on Craftster tonight! Lady Leitzen stitched up Sheldon’s catch phrase, Bazinga. The little Star Trek hand is great and she even thought up ways to make this more awesome:

i think i might have to do another one, but if i do, i’d change the “i” in bazinga to a lightning bolt (for the flash), then around the lizard and spock i’d do a yellow rose (for texas) on each side, then the outermost flowers i’d change to double helixes, or atoms or something.

I might have to make this for my husband for Christmas :)
