Super Simple Star Wars Tees

These home-made t-shirts at ilovetocreateblog look pretty great, and don’t appear to be too difficult to make.

Easy Star Wars Tees

I especially like the negative Yoda tee on the right, which looks like he might be standing in front of the lights of a spaceship. As usual, these methods could be applied to so many great and iconic geeky franchises. Just pick your favourite character/spaceship/vehicle/insignia and go nuts! Make sure you check out ilovetocreateblog to see how these tees were made.

It’s fun to dress like superheroes, but spandex isn’t comfortable and isn’t made to be worn every day. Nerdy t-shirts are another fun way to show your love for a character to the world, but they won’t keep you warm in the winter. What’s a geek to do? Add flair with an accessory like a scarf! Etsy seller OOAKrafts has a variety of fleece scarves featuring superhero logos; they look awesome and they’ll keep you cozy.

Sherlock 221B Knit Beanie

The beanie had it coming…

Are you a fan of the BBC’s Sherlock? Tired of waiting for series 3 to finally come out? Then do I have a project for you!

Sherlock 221B Knit Beanie

“Bored! Bored! I don’t know what’s gotten into the criminal classes. Good job I’m not one of them.”

“So you take it out on the wall?”

“Ah, the wall had it coming.”

Sami Brooker of Knitty.com created a wonderful knit pattern of the wallpaper design found in Sherlock Holmes’ flat at 221B Baker Street, complete with yellow smiley face. She used a circular size US 8 needle to knit the ribbed, bottom-up beanie, perfect for any Sherlock fan, or an unsuspecting friend. Her pattern can also be found on Ravelry.com.

Need to Stop That Pesky Mind Reading? There’s a Hat for That!

We all know that Magneto doesn’t really want anyone poking around his head. I mean who does?  He even has a dapper helmet to take care of that.

popscreen_magneto

But that can’t be the most comfortable, or warmest of hats. What  can one do but knit it of course? Ravelry user AnnaSwan has knit up a lovely replica waiting to keep out any troubling mind readers.  Now if only I had the power to call wool to  me.  Would that make me the Mistress of Fiber-tism? I’d take it.

Fibre Optic Star Map

I seem to keep posting rather high-tech geek crafts lately, but there are just so many good ideas out there that need to be shared. So today I bring you a hand-made Fibre Optic Star Map, created by Imgur user, krid7.

Fibre Optic Star Map

Bringing this wonderful Milky Way panorama to life is a beautiful idea, and I’m really impressed at how well krid7 was able to pull this off. All those fibres would have driven me bonkers! Krid7 has documented the process on Imgur to be sure to click here to see how the Fibre Optic Star Map was created. And the best part is, real star maps were used, meaning that thing is not only beautiful, but it’s also scientific, yo.

Have an Astro-geek craft of your own? I would love to see it – post in the comments!
